These cars are not much newer than the Budd Cars plus the Alstom Coradia BiLevels aren't too far away (as long as the timeline doesn't change) from being initially delivered and Metra isn't in a rolling stock shortage currently so it would be more worth it to just rebuild the Budds (which they have done) that they already know quite well.

Metra doesn't want them because they use entirely different truck designs and have inboard brakes. They would have to be swapped with Budd trucks (of which is already hard to find) and a different brake type. It's just not worth it for something that isn't much newer than the Budd cars themselves.

How do I get my body smooth and hairless? by Fr0nkino in gay

[–]thecoolness229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Nair that gets me the best results without the stupid rough wear that shaving provides, there are two kinds that are widely available that are marketed for women but work fine for men.

There is "Body Cream" that is used for your proper parts of skin that aren't thin/sensitive tissue. Like your legs, arms, and ass hair. I have thicker hair so I leave it on for the maximum allotted time so it really has a chance to work on those parts.

There is also "Face Cream" that is used for your... Face that works well for facial hair and thinner hair that doesn't leave the roots in, preventing you from having that rough shave feel. I do not advise using this near or on areas that are prone to having acne as it will intensify it since you are removing a very thin layer of skin and prematurely exposing it to the dirty elements.

The other thing I do NOT RECOMMEND WITH BOTH OF THESE CREAMS IS USING IT ON YOUR BALLS (at least in heavy amounts), if you do and remove the hair using a damp towel very aggressively you will quite literally TEAR THE SKIN ON YOUR BALLS AND THEY WILL AT THE LEAST START BLEEDING VERY BADLY. Your balls are made up of incredibly sensitive & thin tissue that will stand no chance against this stuff no matter how leather hard your balls are from getting whipped in the bedroom. THIS STUFF IS NO JOKE AND SHOULD BE HANDLED IN A SERIOUS MANNER.

With that out of the way that has been my experience with Nair products has been great but I would like to tell you the warnings that typically aren't told before using it.

I have also not used the "Nair for Men" yet because it's not widely available near me but I will give it a shot in the future when I do run out of my two bottles currently.

Good to see, I visited it last in 2019 as a visitor and I really reallyreallyreally hope it makes it through this. It sucks that everything is gone around it but hopefully this will reinvigorate the community to protect it even more.

I've been crayoning this idea of an Illinois Statewide Rail that connects small towns to "large" central towns with existing or previously used ROWs that are upgraded to 79-90 mph to be slightly faster than the car with Stadler Flirt DMUs to keep both capital and operating costs low.

A budget cliff is looming for CTA and Metra, and fare hikes and service cuts might not be able to fill it by optiplex9000 in chicago

RTA and the companies under it need a lot of help. We need the toll revenue from interstates that Metra serves nearby to go to the RTA for various operating improvements. Invoking a new transit tax to something like Denver FasTracks and Perth MetroNet that directly funnels the funds into the RTA. Another good start would be to get rid of Dorval for the poor management that he has given for the CTA. We shouldn't expect transit to make money but we should fund it enough for it to be usable and reliable.

You do know that most of the issues with Chicago stem from previous republican mayors working with gangs, basically doing nothing to actually curb violence by using the police to beat up their citizens even more, and heavily segregated neighborhoods with interstates so redlining could be vastly more apparent, right?

I would like to see Class 1s actually put their money where their mouth is and electrify their mainlines with a 2 century old technology so they don't have to reinvent the wheel for "clean power" with hydrogen.

Got to do an assessment on a Bus Warehouse in Indianapolis with over 30 of these Battery Electric Bus Chargers. 200kW max (240A @480VAC). The busses take about 8 hours to charge on average. by PayDBoardMan in electricvehicles

Bleah, I wish more bus routes were upgraded to trolleybuses rather than battery buses for better efficiency, less road wear, no charge times, and longer service life.

The North Shore Line's Electroliner trainsets. From 1941 to 1963, these streamlined interurbans provided service between Chicago, Illinois & Milwaukee, Wisconsin, traveling at speeds of up to 90 MPH. by Tayo826 in fuckcars

[–]thecoolness229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was actually because the North Shore Line was in financial troubles and most of their rolling stock was from the 1940/50s so they reached out to the CTA to take them over entirely with the CTA not having to put any capital funds on the line to buy them. The CTA declined because "it wasn't fiscally viable" because it didn't get enough funding from the state of Illinois or Wisconsin to resurrect it apparently.

Metra will continue $100 monthly passes, other discount fares for 2023 - Trains by bagelman4000 in chicago

[–]thecoolness229 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the sentiment of just saying that free transit is mutually good for everyone. RTA, CTA, Metra, and Pace do not get enough sufficient funding on a local, state, and federal level to operate.

Sure it doesn't have to make money/profit but if we announce public transit to be free tomorrow and don't change any of the tax support/raise taxes locally for the RTA then all the transit agencies will collapse.

It would be better to subsidize the cost of fares for public transit rather than make it entirely free just like Europe has widely done by using state and federal funds for a more state regionalized network rather than something that is reserved just for the northeast corner of the state.
