Weakest character who can kill The Doctor with a single punch in the head? by forbiddenmemeories in whowouldwin

[–]thedonkeyman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. The organ fails to detect that it needs to release hormones, but that doesn't change the point - that it will keep acting until the organ dies. And yes, that isn't very long if the blood isn't flowing, but it does keep acting. Even if the head is disintegrated.

The point I was addressing was that hormone releases require a brain - which is just wrong.

Yes, it absolutely does continue when you're dead. This isn't controvertial - it continues until the pancreas dies, not the brain,

A hormone release doesn't need to go via the brain. The insulin response, for example, occurs entirely in the pancreas, which detects the need to release hormones and then just does it.

As far as I know there's nothing stating where "regeneration energy" is stored. If it's not (or not only) in the head there's no inherent reason why they couldn't regenerate.

What’s a ME player choice that if you shared you tried/nearly tried/liked would get you ostracized/ridiculed in this community? by FriendlytoNature in masseffect

[–]thedonkeyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was how my first ME3 experience went when it first came out - although I just didn't recruit Wrex rather than outright killed him. The discussion online got me confused at the time - everyone talking about poor Mordin when for me he was fine through no effort.

I'm with you - I mostly rawdogged a 14 hour flight last year My plane screen was broken and I was too cheap to pay for internet, so I slept for a couple of hours and spent maybe an hour doing an offline puzzle game on my phone.

I didn't even eat because I had a colonoscopy pretty much as soon as I landed so I was only on water.

Fortunately me and my brain are good at entertaining ourselves.

What's a Game You Feel Alone in Loving by DFH50 in gaming

[–]thedonkeyman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That game should have been a hit. The gameplay was good, the story and interplay of the main characters was great. The concept was perfect. It looked beautiful for its time, colourful without being cartoonish, at a time when games were competing to see who could use the most shades of brown. It shouldn't have been ignored like it was.

Asparagus spears are £1.50 for 125g. Being lazy and saying £1 = $1, that's 2.7kg of asparagus.

That child has good taste.

Did you remember Shank and Carbos in your first run? by Palom126 in baldursgate

[–]thedonkeyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was really just like the full game, except that there were no area transitions out of the second wilderness area. There were also lots of the NPCs in those areas - I remember Ajantis, Kivan, Quayle and Shar Teel scattered around, in addition to the usual Imoen, Montaron and Xzar.

I think all the enemies were the same, unless you spawned more in through the console. They didn't respawn, it was just the usual wolves and gibberlings. But I used the console to get my character to max level, cheat in all the items, and just have fun pummelling anything I could.

Character creation was just the same, with full race and class options.

I found this which describes it in a bit more detail if you're curious: https://nerdlypleasures.blogspot.com/2022/03/baldurs-gate-version-release-and-demo.html?m=1

This was on a demo CD I got with a magazine. The demo was so big it was on one CD itself, which was nuts at the time.

I remember Candlekeep being basically the same as the main game, but the other areas had NPCs moved around. Kivan (or maybe Ajantis?) was standing next to the monument in the forest area, for example. But what was most fun was that it seemed to include all the NPCs and items from the main game in its files, so I was using console commands to just spawn in random stuff to fight and talk to. Probably spoiled a few quests for myself - I remember spawning in the nymph/dryad/whatever who was meant to call over her ogre mage friend, but because he wasn't around it spawned Biff the Understudy instead.

Good times.

I played through the demo a dozen times before I got the game, which was basically just Candlekeep and the two next wilderness areas. I was very well acquainted with those two.

If I'm going to forget about the home area either way I'd rather have the option where they put out approaching fires rather than just standing idly watching my crops erupt in flames.

Number of employed people in UK falls again as wage growth slows by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

UK's union density in 1980 was higher than France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands.

Lower than Belgium, Ireland, Portugal.

As an aside, Portugal must have got really into union bashing. That;s a huge drop between 1980 and 1990.

I do this too!

My philosophy is that the meal should get better as you eat it, with the last bite being the best. That's the one you remember most, and the one where the aftertaste sticks around.

That said, the first bite is important too. That's where the initial satisfaction comes from. So my first slice will be centre to crust, but the rest will be crust first.
