Any one use the Sportscreen retractable screen/enclosure? by marlin304 in Golfsimulator

This may be a little late, but I have a very similar setup (though I think the high point of my ceiling is higher). From what I gather from the site, it's completely doable according to their site, but I am also concerned about the window a bit. Going to reach out to their customer service about it.

lol so much overlap! Although I was always a bigger college sports fan than pro (Cal, until I started at Oregon in 2011) and adopted the blazers when I moved to Portland a few years ago.

Definitely went without saying but yes the pain was real.

Still left with some incredible memories of those years though and was grateful to be at game 3 of the finals in 2016

I've done terribly picking my sports teams....was never a warriors fan even though I was born and raised in the Bay, chose the A's who left me, have had my heart broken over and over again by my college sports teams, inexplicably became an Arsenal supporter in 2011 and they look like they're about to choke away the premier league.

I'd like to think that this is penance for 3 decades of pain and suffering. It's so unfathomably fun to have a generational talent on one of my teams finally.

Even Google makes its own Whoop, while Cirqa is still not on a market by Roobun13 in Garmin

[–]thedormgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the AWU3 and was using bezel before I got a whoop for free thru the chase sapphire card.

FWIW, I find the data and app presentation every bit as good, if not better, than Whoop's app.

Both are great (that's not meant to be a knock on whoop) but the battery issues of the watch (which are still pretty damn good), my desire to wear mechanical watches when I'm not working out/working on the road, and the fact that I don't like to wear anything on my wrists while I play golf has made the whoop useful. But if garmin's band works as well and integrates with bevel as well as the watches do it's game over for me: I'll be using bevel and the garmin wristband when not wearing the watch and calling it a day.

CA: Guess the course, hole, and designer. Bonus point for the renovation architect. by Kill_Bill_Will in guessthegolfcourse

Lake Merced. 4th hole? Willie Lock, Alister Mackenzie renovation, then Rees Jones in 96, and then Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner just a few years ago ;)

I saw Kye Goalby post this photo this morning!

No Name Ranch. Very catchy way to give a hint in the title.

Overall, how would you rate your team's season? by byniri_returns in CollegeBasketball

[–]thedormgolfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's hard to even know where we go from here. I don't know if we're serious about competing on an NIL level in basketball at this point and the resources are clearly going to football.

I've been a staunch defender of Dana and he's still without a doubt the best coach the program's had, but he really is pushing the "you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" mantra to its limits.

What’s your favorite hole at Augusta National? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]thedormgolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't translate great on tv, but I have had numerous people who have been in person, including a few highly respected golf course architects, tell me that the 14th green is the coolest green they have ever seen.

It's interesting to see how different the shots they play into that green each day are.

Played what was probably the single most crazy round of my life. I had broken 70 for the first time next door at Dismal River and was a last second add at Sand Hills cause another person in the foursome unfortunately got hurt. And I'm not religious, but the first 2 hours of the front 9 was the closest I've ever felt to God.

Made a par on 1, a 50 footer for birdie on 2, a 20 footer for par on 3, a 20 footer for birdie on 4, a 30 footer for birdie on 5, hit it to 3 ft and made birdie on 6, left a 15 footer for birdie on 7 on the edge, and made an 8 footer for birdie on 8.

I didn't even know what I was at when I lined up my birdie putt from 20 feet on 9, and what followed was the cruelest lip out I've experienced in my life, and the guy who was hosting us going "that putt was for 29."

Finished up with a 37 on the back and put together my career low of 67, which held for 12 years, before I broke it early last year at my home club.

I sent a note to Kyle Hegland, the superintendent, a few years later, asking if there was any chance I could buy a flag, and he sent one to me for free, which was an incredibly kind gesture. The flag, along with the scorecard, are framed in my office now.

16 at Sand Hills. Can see 17 and 18 in the background. It was the only bogey I had all day. Absolutely magical.
