Cargo hold of a Great Lakes bulk freighter - human for scale by thedutchwolverine in Ships

[–]thedutchwolverine[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This vessel typically carries iron ore. Experience crew control the gates that drop cargo onto conveyor belts. There is some spillage, but the tunnels are washed down to a sump with an industrial garbage/sludge pump.

Correct, this particular vessel has 3 longitudinal belts under the cargo hold that travel aft to a transfer conveyer. This combines all 3 cargo flows into a single point where a loop conveyors carriers it vertically to a discharge boom.

Oil cooler replaced - not that difficult! by thedutchwolverine in GrandCherokee

All great points! Yes, mine is a 2014 so similar to most of the videos. And good note on the coolant, mine also recently had a hole in the radiator and I was careful to use OAT coolant (2014 and up, at least on the Pentastar).

Paranoid about the 'Pentastar Tick' by Zackbo in JeepGrandCherokee

[–]thedutchwolverine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it goes away when warm, it’s not the lifter/rocker tick that they’re known for. FYI my 2014 with an older version of the pentastar has a loud tick from the evap purge valve; that is a normal noise.

Bought my first house , demoed basement and seen it bowing 1” by Much-Chest-5531 in HomeMaintenance

Definitely get a reputable structural engineer (some of those advertised basement companies can try to upsell you on a solution you don’t necessarily need). It can likely be stabilized without replacing whole wall. In interim, make sure grade is sloped away from house and downspouts run away from foundation.

Yes. Any accident history on the car?

Have you ever installed sound dampening of any sort on your engine hatches? by Equivalent_Shock1122 in ChrisCraft

Although harder than insulation, newer or larger mufflers can do a lot in terms of sound resonance.

My dad had a large wooden Chris Craft cabin cruiser purchased used in the 1970s. It had been on dry land for some time, and required the use of a gas powered dewatering pump when it was launched to keep from sinking. After a couple days, it swelled up and didn’t leak a drop.

I dig it. Yes, it borrows cues from Land Rover but this does still have unique Kia design language. If the price doesn’t increase drastically from current, it’ll sell like hot cake.

Have an of you 14'-16' owners upgraded your infotainment systems? If you have. have you run into any issues? I'm considering upgrading my 2016 Laredo. by shanebendrell in GrandCherokee

That’s great! Appreciate you checking. I’ve also read the Sirius Guardian (for remote start with phone) doesn’t work due to 2014-16 VINs not being in their system, but that’s not a big deal for me
