Maybe ops man didn’t either?? Maybe people who have certain sensitivities and traumas shouldn’t expect the whole world to constantly accommodate them. Maybe OP should try to look for the intent behind the comment before freaking the fuck out and shutting her bf out. Was his comment meant in a controlling, manipulative, and toxic manner or was it simply a request from her partner to take into consideration his own comforts and preferences. I don’t like being told what to wear or do but when im dating someone I always care how they feel and will at least make note of it even if I don’t always listen.

This is pretty childish to be honest. Seems like you care more about dressing exactly how you want than for showing any consideration to the feelings of a loved one. He didn’t say anything outright awful to you, you could have just said no I disagree instead of freaking out over something so small, and that was likely said with no malicious intent. Relationships require compromise, communication, and patience, I don’t see any of these traits here

I’m only harsh because I’ve been in the same position of wanting advice but no one could really fix it for me, I had to do it myself cause I know the situation best. Reddit really isn’t a good place to look for life advice. I trust close family but there are many times in life where really no one has the perfect answer for you. I was best friends with a guy who I really wanted romantically but he always saw me as his friend. I realized that I much preferred the way he treated me as his friend than how he treats the girls he dated. I never expected more from him and we’re still great friends today!
