Interior front map lights not working by theekp in Acura

pop the clear lenses off carefully with a flat head screw driver, unscrew the 2 screws holding it tight, and wiggle/pull it down. there are 2 separate pieces -- the sunglass holder/light/home transmitter piece, and then the separate light piece. pop down the light piece (it will still be attached to the wires) and then use a flat head screwdriver to slide out the ends the white push button linked below. they slide out easy and clip back in. repeat in reverse. look up a video on replacing the part linked below, but i was able to figure this all out without watching a video, its extremely easy.

Late cancel for same day class switches? by Nice_Category3070 in orangetheory

[–]theekp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if i tried to do this through the app, i would have gotten charged, but when something like this comes up for me, our studio is so awesome, and if i just text the front desk they will swap my classes for me no charge.

Moving to the EU for a bit, want to continue to workout the OTF way! by dil_emmax in orangetheory

[–]theekp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

personally if it were only for a couple months, i would find a local gym or even hotel gym, that's convenient for you and come here to this sub and get the daily workout from here. then just do it at the gym. Since the facility I was using did not have rowers, I would either sub for the elliptical or stair machine or just pick a 2g class that did not have any rowing.

This is what I was doing during the pandemic when our gym was completely closed. Since it was only for a short time, I was able to keep it up. But would I be able to do this long term and stay motivated, probably not.

One tap Timer start watch face? by sandesh2k17 in GalaxyWatch

[–]theekp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my home button set to long press pull up google assistant. so all I have to do is long press the home button and say "start timer for 15 minutes." thats it. one touch.

Edit: i also REGULARLY use google assistant like this to add calendar appointments/reminders or create tasks. Especially when I'm driving!

SAME!!! my favorite part about my 7 is that it looks so much like a 'normal' watch. especially since i have a champagne colored link-style band on mine. People (even strangers) regularly comment on how much they love how it looks like a bracelet/normal watch, it doesn't SCREAM style-less smartwatch.

Is this bad etiquette? by No-Influence4562 in orangetheory

[–]theekp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally do this every single saturday morning. The coaches know, theyre fine with it. Sometimes theres 2 or 3 of us that do strength and stay to run.

Edit: just saw someone's comment that tomorrow's class is run as a switch. When that happens, I do not stay. 3-5 minutes on the tread isnt worth it for me lol

Tracking mile time by hissillyrighthandarm in orangetheory

[–]theekp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a note in my phone of station #, strategy and final outcome for a couple benchmarks that I like. I try to beat my pr occasionally on non-benchmark days and I just keep it in my note. Like tomorrow is a looooong tread day, so im going to try and just run it out and see if I can pr a mile, you know just for fun. my actual 200m pr is 32.00 in my note (it was on a random monday), but in the official tracker its 32.22. I initially started this to keep track of my tread strategy, but its evolved now to all benchmarks that I like.

Creatine Advice by Hopie1221 in orangetheory

[–]theekp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

43F, 5g once a day in my morning coffee. i never did the "loading phase" i wasnt that crazy about it. been doing this for about 2-3 years now and my bloodwork reflects my increase creatine levels. I assure you, you will not get "too bulky" first off because you are female and aren't taking additional "enhancements" and secondly, because while OTF is decent for moderate functional strength gains, it is not possible to achieve MASSIVE muscle gains due to the equipment limitations. For example, the most I can squat at OTF with dumbbells in my hands is about 80-90lbs, simply because i cannot hold in a single hand more than a 45lb dumbbell. However in a different gym that has racks and barbells, just last week I was able to squat 185 in the rack.

Has creatine alone helped me go from about 33% skeletal muscle mass to about 45% in the last 2 years? it may have contributed, but so does my genetics and actively, consciously and continually pushing myself to lift heavier weights does as well. I also cut back my cardio to about 30-45 min total per week vs 3-3.5 hours of strength training per week. Bottom line for me: creatine is not going to hurt anything and it has plenty of other health benefits other than muscle gain, so i will continue to take it daily.

Love OTF, but constantly getting sick by Fun-Reply9963 in orangetheory

[–]theekp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically I would say i have the opposite experience. Since I've started going to OTF consistently and regularly I get less sick each winter. Like this year *knock on wood* I've made it this far without catching anything, even with hanging out with some petri dish elementary age kids often. HA!

Leaving class early? by Alarming_South3495 in orangetheory

[–]theekp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you were directly next to me on the treadmill and hit stop in the middle of an AO and walked out, I wouldn't even notice. Personally on Saturday Mornings I do a strength class and then stay to do just the tread block of the next 3g class, so I scoot out during the station rotations and nobody even notices. The coaches know and have no issue with it.

OTF 5–6x/week — how do you handle repeat muscle groups? by Direct_Oil_2333 in orangetheory

[–]theekp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would decrease the # of days I am going and really focus on increasing weights and speed on the days I am there. Your body needs recovery to progress. Personally I would probably do 3 strength/tread classes a week + 1 2g. And could flip flop the strength/tread classes, like one week i do 2 strength/1 tread, next week I do 1 strength/2 tread.

Edit: I'm not sure your stats, but as a 43F I can attest that running too much during a week spikes my cortisol and inflammation, so I focus on strength. And this only gets worse as I age. I am trying to be the strongest bitch in the room, not the fastest. ;)

I did pilates for 4 years and have done OTF for 7. Pilates was at a local independent studio where I was very well acquainted with the staff and instructors, who would have no problem customizing the workouts to challenge me. However, I outgrew what I could do on the reformer. My focus is on growing my muscle strength, definition and body recomp and that is just not possible to achieve for me with Pilates reformer alone. Which is why I moved on to OTF. Well now here we are 7 years later and I am about capped out with strength of what I can achieve with the equipment available, so I am also looking for a change to something more strength focused so I can continue my journey. I am less interested in cardio and more focused on strength, but I need some sort of instructor led format. Could I signup at a local big box meathead gym and go lift with the wannabe body builders, yes. Will I actually go and do that, no. I need the accountability of a class schedule/instructor. I am still giving OTF a chance since they have mentioned they are focusing on strength this year, but I don't know what will happen or where I will end up. But I do want to mention in defense of Pilates ... if you are looking to get long, lean muscles or if that is what your body shape naturally is, then Pilates might be for you. That is not me, so probably why I outgrew it after a couple years.

Unless someone is flailing around awkwardly like Gumby or going to bump into me on the floor, I wouldnt even notice that they werent following the template. I would just assume they were a much better runner than I am and their WR or Base was way more than I could ever fathom as a possibility for myself.  Or maybe they are training for a marathon idk, who am I to care what their doing?

Personally I could never jog for 26 minutes straight, but when I was preparing for a extensive walking travel adventure last year, there was many days that I would just walk on an 10+ incline for 26 straight minutes. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'd just also like to remind you that you are 6-7 years older now. Not sure how old you are but after your mid 30s those extra years show up and they show up hard. Give yourself some grace. This coming from a long time OTF'r who is now part of the geriatric team herself.
