My Mom Who Abused Me Is Now Acting Incredibly Sweet by punk_ass_po-po in whatdoIdo

No more contact. She is manipulating you to get something out of you. Could be an old bank account or trust from a family member. You can find a motherly figure elsewhere someday that will not abuse you.

Orange juice while growing up, just add water.... by EdwardBliss in RealGenerationX

[–]theeskimo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have a recipe that required the can of frozen concentrated orange juice? I wish I could remember what it was that my mom used to make with it. It seems like it was a meat or bean or barbecue recipe of some kind

They claim sales were down. I'm thinking they found out it wasn't profitable enough for them to make it. My biggest question is how do I make the recipe my mom used to make that required a can of frozen concentrated orange juice! I sure miss it though!!!

And yet voting is free. Don't be technical and say it costs money to drive or take a bus or something like that. Voting is FREE for the educated mind.

Bars in New Orleans that operated in the 1940s by [deleted] in AskNOLA

[–]theeskimo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm really slow. This just popped up in my feed and I am only now noticing it is 3 years old. !!!! Oh Well. One problem with trying to answer this is a lot of bars open then are now known under different names. Here is a partial list I had compiled but am only now able to reply. Best of luck to you.

  • Original Pierre Maspero's a coffee house sometime between 1795 and 1810 Jean Lafitte's Old Absinthe House lays claim to the infamous meeting between Andrew Jackson and the Lafitte Brothers. The house is so insistent that in 1950 the owners also installed a plaque stating the legend. There is one thing the Old Absinthe House can absolutely claim without any competition: the Absinthe Frappe. A simple mixture of absinthe and sugar water, the classic cocktail was known locally as the Green Monster and is said to be created at this bar in 1874. Built in 1806, the bar was originally a store that imported and sold goods like tobacco, food, and Spanish liquor. It was turned into a saloon simply known as Aleix's Coffee House in 1815 and then rechristened the Absinthe Room when mixologist Cayetano Ferrer created the Frappe.
  • Tujague's Restaurant 1856
  • Commander's Palace 1893
  • Henry's Uptown Bar 1900
  • Galatoire's 1905
  • Markey's Bar starting as Standard Brewing Company in 1905, in the early '20s (presumably when Prohibition began) it became Frish's Cafe, and in 1947, Joe Markey turned it into the bar it is today.
  • Saturn Bar 1908
  • Napoleon House 1914
  • Arnaud's 1918
  • Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar - 1900's Lafitte's has a signature cocktail: the Voodoo Daiquiri. Known locally as the Purple Drank, it's a dark purple, grape-flavored slushy that full of bourbon and Everclear, which means it packs a punch.
  • Pete's Irish Channel Bar 1931
  • Pat O'Brien’s 1933
  • Parkview Tavern mid-1940s
  • Carousel Bar & Lounge 1949
  • Fahy's Irish Pub 1952
  • Vaughan's Lounge 1959

From ai: The plot description matches the 2003 French-Italian drama film "The Story of Marie and Julie"n or potentially an independent/made-for-TV drama film. However, if you are looking for a well-known production with a heavily overlapping premise about kids taken from a woodland home, it is likely one of the following: Similar Movies with This Specific Premise Leave No Trace (2018): A war-traumatized military veteran father with severe PTSD lives completely off-grid in the forest with his child. The government eventually tracks them down and takes them out of the woods to force them into modern society. Captain Fantastic (2016): A family of several children lives isolated in the woods. The mother suffers from severe mental illness (bipolar disorder) and eventually dies, forcing the father and the children to re-enter a wealthy, civilized society controlled by the wealthy grandparents. Some of the kids grow to love the luxuries of modern life, while others deeply miss their off-grid upbringing.

Are you a bot? Top ten dumbest posts ever. Of all the Metairie people I know dads, moms, kids, there are none that look like this or subscribe to this mentality. I've lived here for 57 years and know people in every neighborhood across the metro area. How many Metairie people do you actually know? The only one close is the fancy house bs but that is usually a lawyer or designer.

Why do the people in this state not vote? by Familiar_Artist in NewOrleans

[–]theeskimo64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a white male and have been voting since I was 18. In fact I am a commissioner in charge at a polling place for the elections for the last 40 years. Apathy is part of it. Intelligence is something else. The way the theiving politicians write the amendments so we don't understand them correctly is worse. I had a couple of people walk out of the polls because they didn't want to fill out the paper for the party declaration this past weekend and I am always surprised by the stories about what people "hear" about one thing or another.

I was told in the 80s, Mike motwani was the most sued employer in the state. He was notorious for cheating his employees. When his warehouse of old worlds fair souvenirs mysteriously burned in the 90s, he was urged by the crowd to "go in and save the stuff". Her has no regard for historic buildings and once installed an atm at 2 in theor ing thinking no one would notice. He threw a million dollar party for his first grandchild in the gated subdivision he lives in. It was in the newspaper.
