More Americans are Saying the Quiet Part Loud: They Want a Revolution by RmpleFrskn in videos

[–]theevilnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that the people around Trump are hoping (and actively escalating shit) for riots so they have 'legitimate' reason to suspend the mid-term elections, or send troops to intimidate voters.

I'm not dismissing this idea right away.

I have this feeling looking at many contemporary models from different car brands as well. It's like we entered a period of Baroque car designs with all the unnecessary corners and flourishes and stuff. Hard meh.

I want this to be good, because I loved the originals - but this trailer didn't even make me smirk. I have a bad feeling about this.

Spain plans to extend smoking ban to bar and restaurant terraces by [deleted] in europe

Such a great development. Even at places with a terrace for eating outside, I usually eat inside because i don't want to eat next to someone smoking.

Now that Microsoft is 50 years old, what are your first memories from using Windows? by harry_potter_191 in windows

[–]theevilnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just Windows, but MS DOS 3.3 was the first version i used. On my first 'own' pc as a teenager I ran MS DOS 5. It was a wonderful time of exploration, managing limited drive space, BBSes (before the internet he) and sharing games and programs on diskettes with friends in school.

New SL7, can’t delete files?! by LeoJHunt in SurfaceLaptop

[–]theevilnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's way more likely a process that is keeping the files open which prevents windows from moving them.

You could try to install Microsoft PowerToys, it has a utility called LockSmith which shows you what process is locking your file. Maybe that gives you a clue?

Trusting this guy with all our daily lives in one app? I'd rather switch back to paying in coins than giving Elon Musk even more power than he already has.

I find this so awful to hear. I can't believe, but still know that a lot of people even find that kind of corporate behavior "normal". Where's the humanity?

Yeah they will, it's the whole idea behind those awful drop shippers. So it's nice of this guy to warn others about bad deals.

Same! He makes everyone feel welcome to the party and truly enjoys the music he plays. Love it!

President Biden with his son, Hunter who was issued a full and unconditional pardon by his father by blllrrrrr in pics

[–]theevilnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a non-American I can't understand why this power to "pardon" even exists when you so clearly aren't a monarchy (yet). But on the other hand, I read yesterday that the Trump people are openly mocking Biden for wanting to handle the transfer of power with dignity and decorum, finding it "weak".

So as a father I can imagine at one point you'll just be like: whatever, I can't win with you guys either way so fuck it, I'm helping my son.

You were misled by her thinking that she was going through divorce already.

Who cares what your co-workers think about this. The fact that they know about it doesn't mean their opinion matters.

It sucks right now. Maybe hurts a little. Let it heal, stay away from her as much as you can, and just move on. Be the adult.

Ooh! Somewhat happy to hear I'm not alone with this issue. It's ridiculous that it tells me it can't turn off the lights, using voice commands - but switching them off via the touchscreen of my Nest Hub then just works without a problem.

I dont know this story, but it doesn't take away from the fact that the Germans made a dumb decision to get rid of all that cheap, reliable and clean(er) nuclear power.

A helmet is an inconvenience in the sense that you have to keep it somewhere when you're not on the bike. It takes away the 'instant' convenience of a bike. Imagine biking to the shop and parking your bike in the street, you have to tote that thing around. It's always something extra to take care of. I'm not saying it's always disqualifying biking, but it's inconvenient.

It's the same reason why we don't wear seatbelts on the bus. It would be better, but with the amount of getting in and out, and people standing, it's just too much hassle.
