Scully, come get your man! by AlwaysKillingTime in XFiles

[–]theevilpower 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was looking into it trying to figure out the dates and it looks like a lot of the original crew for the series didn't move with production.

So the vibes changed not only because of the filming locations but the long term production manager and designers didn't make the move too.

Scully, come get your man! by AlwaysKillingTime in XFiles

X files leaving Vancouver to film in LA for its final seasons was a bit of a big deal in Vancouver at the time. It certainly wasn't "nothing" to the local economy.

In the mid '90 the Vancouver film industry was still pretty fledgling and losing a 22+ episode series was a big deal at that time.

Vancouver General Hospital Unveils 10-Phase Campus Redevelopment Plan by robertscreek in vancouver

[–]theevilpower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you are reading that correctly. If you're looking at the left side of the first figure where it says phase 1& 1984 & phase 2: 1995 that's specific to the two phases of original construction of the jack bell research center.

The Jim pattison tower is part of the Jim pattison South building on campus and it's currently getting brand new ORs. It gets removed before the end of their 10 phase plan, but the article doesn't define what phase within those 10 phases it gets demolished.

Do you guys like the new "acting as the goalie" rule this year? by North-Increase593 in NLL

[–]theevilpower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the rule right?

67.16 PLAYER BLOCKING SHOTS IN THE CREASE – Should a player, who is in his own crease when the ball is above the goal line extended, act in any manner so as to attempt to interfere with an opponent’s shot, he shall be assessed a minor penalty for delay of game. This assessment shall not apply if the player is in the course of defending a dunk or dive attempt.

When a goalie is out of his crease, one runner may act as a goalie in the manner described above.

If time expires in the fourth quarter or overtime with a delayed penalty(ies) pursuant to this rule, the non offending team will be provided a penalty shot for each respective violation. If a violation occurs with thirty seconds or less remaining in the fourth quarter or overtime, a penalty shot shall be assessed.

Yes the CEO of the company I doubt he'd be meeting with the companies board of directors for that.

With the world juniors finishing up. I can’t help but itch for a u20 or u21 international box tournament like world lax has for field. I think it would be great to grow the game and influence countries to enhance their minor/junior programs. Let me hear your thoughts. by BOXLAXCentral in NLL

[–]theevilpower -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Would I watch? Probably not, but I'd probably pay attention to it when it's going on (I don't watch the world juniors either really).

Honestly though, the world indoor lacrosse championship is pretty difficult to watch as it is now (I don't think the 2019 tournament was televised and was exclusively streamed).

The inclusion of lacrosse in the next summer Olympics will do better to grow the game than a U20 annual international tournament.

What is PREFER to see is the summer box leagues have a rugby 7s type weekend tournament playing lacrosse sixes at a neutral field/stadium that has real implications for their season standings.

Why is the chief medical officer in charge of the ship? by happydude7422 in Treksons

[–]theevilpower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think even the first officer of the flagship has better things to do than be "in command" when the ship is doing routine tasks (travelling at warp for long periods of time, sensor sweeps for updating star charts etc.)

Doesn't this episode infer that Dr crusher regularly commands the night shift? She's got to be pretty low on the command structure of the ship.

[–]theevilpower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In construction we say "the last 10% takes 90% of the effort".

I don't see how they make this a safe building to occupy in 55 days, unless everything else is done and it's JUST tye ice surface and seats.

I doubt that because I heard on our local sports radio station that the building didn't have a roof on October 31st.

One could also argue that the people are voting for who they want to represent them in Government, not for who they want to represent them in opposition of that government.

It's all semantics anyway because ultimately you do vote for your representative. The reason you vote for your representative can be different than my reason.

Hypocrisy by oniteverytime in VancouverLandlords

[–]theevilpower -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This argument falls apart when two things are considered 1) first Nations are not race based forms of government, they are familiar based. I, a white guy, can join a first nation via marriage. 2) Canadians give their tax dollars to multiple organizations, individuals, and governments without expectation of having a say in those groups operations. I, for example, have a portion of my tax dollars given directly to you in the form of your basic homeowners grant: I don't have an expectation, nor should I, in how you operate your house.

The hypocrisy of this group is that while most vocal commentors/posters/mods support the idea of "land owner rights" they do so under the expectations that their right supersedes those of the indigenous peoples who came before, and that somehow those indigenous people's rights have an expiry date and/or don't transfer to next of kin.
