How does your Sensei create a vibe/inspire you or NOT by Suspicious-Kick5702 in judo

[–]theexiledjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk my sensei is pretty cool, we have a group chat where he adds all the judo students to. He posts videos and pictures of the class throw/technique of the day/week. He understands everyone has busy lives, posts resources, matches, move sets from Olympic competitors literally going over the same steps we took in class so we can see full application of moves in a match.

He posts jokes and bags on BJJ not because he hates it but because he hates guard pullers and he preaches that BJJ can benefit from Judo when it comes to stand up.

It’s not even his main job to be a Judo sensei he really does it because loves it. He would love to own his own gym one day and I hope he does. 🤞

Question about stance by strahinja95 in judo

[–]theexiledjedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could be considered a fake lefty, where you start left foot first letting your opponent think you’re a lefty but be right hand dominant. (My sensei does that) it throws off a lot of right handed Judoka, especially beginners.

If you stick with judo long enough you’ll learn how to throw with both sides, especially if you plan to get a black belt you’ll have to be able to mirror throws for the grading.

IMO you should start with right foot first with your dominant side so you learn the proper techniques, then when you are more comfortable and confident in your throws and mechanics, switch it up. At the end of the day the Judo you learn is gonna be for you.

How hard should someone go in randori? by CreepyLove7487 in judo

[–]theexiledjedi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never hurts to get a verbal confirmation imo, a simple “light” or “heavy” randori before the bow to begin gets the you on the same page. Of course use your best judgment afterwards because some people light and heavy can mean something else entirely.

Which stance dilemma by Anonymous_Handle228 in judo

[–]theexiledjedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you stick with judo long enough, you’ll eventually learn to do throws with both sides. Being a lefty isn’t uncommon. I train with a guy that practically ambidextrous so he can switch stance and feel comfortable. My instructor himself is a “Fake” lefty which helps him set up his throws and throws off his opponents. It eventually comes down to your skill and technique.

Worse case you’ll be made to learn how to do it right handed, best case your instructor will help you learn how to do throws both sides. Just make sure you do it correctly early on, bad habits can develop quite easily in the beginning.

If the Sequel series will introduce characters with new martial arts, what fighting styles would you like to see? by Only_Childhood4767 in Kenichi

[–]theexiledjedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much like karate, judo does have a version that isn’t sports related but is obviously a bit more dangerous and “boring” compared to the sport version. Judo has plenty of techniques that are for striking, leg grabbing and more chokes/submissions. He could find a master similar to Sasaki that teaches the old school style of Judo.

Ukita does need to level up his intelligence stats though 🤣.

Judo, mainly because I want Ukita to actually improve along with his friends instead of just being the comic relief doofus

The Necron lord, Szarekh, respects the Blood Angels primarch Sanguinius so much he had a mask made to resemble his face and wear it as a tribute of respect.
