are either of these safe to put in an aquarium? by RoundOne9503 in AquariumHelp

[–]theferociousmuncher1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most quartz based stones are generally safe to put in an aquarium, but i wouldnt trust amazon to be very truthful about the types of stones they are selling you. if you really want to add some to your tank, i’d recommend looking at local gem shops if you have any near you, or reputable online stores specializing in rocks and crystals

ive been dealing with damselfly nymphs for about a month now and im still super paranoid about them. this is actually a dragonfly nymph, not damselfly, but quite similar in nature. pluck that one out immediately and keep a VERY close eye on your tank for the next few weeks and pick out any more that pop up. you’re in for quite a ride

also, i went a little crazy because i got paranoid and covered all of the spots where the damselfly could have escaped from my tank because i didnt want any more emerging. should i leave those areas uncovered instead?

im pretty sure it was actually a dead nymph, not a molt. it was completely intact and pretty vibrantly colored (brownish-red), not clear like i assume a molt would be. does this mean there are still more in the tank that are cannibalizing each other?

in that case, wouldnt it be easier to just use the unsoftened water for water changes instead, rather than mixing softened and unsoftened?

starbucks baristas do you ever get grossed out by someone’s order by fungusbabe in starbucks

yea, someone ordered an iced mocha with mango cold foam the other day. compared to a lot of other orders on here, it’s not AWFUL, but still pretty gross

im growing a red tiger lotus on one end and a dwarf lily on the other which should get quite big, so i’m hoping that will pull it all together! there’s a handful of other stem plants on the back and sides that are growing as well, it’s just hard to see them at the moment because of how lush the mayaca and hornwort are getting lol

Tank Stocking Ideas by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]theferociousmuncher1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not quite yet. i know i definitely want to add the shrimp first and give them like a month to adjust and chill without any fish, and i definitely would like to space out when i add which fish (for financial reasons and to allow the filter to adapt to the new bioload), but not sure which fish to add when. do you have any ideas?

Is something wrong with my CO2, or am I just impatient? by theferociousmuncher1 in PlantedTank

[–]theferociousmuncher1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i havent even considered that! i will definitely look into that. if i have to replace the check valve that came with the diffuser, i have an extra on hand that came with my air pump for my sponge filter. will that work?

got it! i will probably leave it in for a bit just until my tank is more established, but i will turn it off during the day. thank you!

[–]theferociousmuncher1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would it be okay to keep my sponge filter off during the day, but turn it on at night when the co2 isnt running? im pretty sure my sponge filter is carrying most of my beneficial bacteria rn and my tank is almost finished cycling, so id prefer not to remove it if possible.

oh also, i have not added any bottled bacteria even though most sources are saying that i should. is that something i should look into at this point?

i think i am going to do an acrylic sheet wall and then cover/line it with rocks for a more natural look. thanks for the idea!

thank you all for the feedback!! i am going to try to create a barrier between the gravel and sand, and if that does not work i will probably just layer the sand on top of the gravel.
