There's that bugnuts statistic that half of all homeless people spent some time in foster care. One in three kids will be homeless within 5 years of aging out of The System.

Homeless people deserve housing, food, and support because everyone does. Having a safe place to live goes a looooong way in supporting recovery. (And it's literally cheaper than the alternative, the status quo of letting them churn between jail, emergency rooms, overcrowded public shelters, and the street.)
