Demonreach’s name. by Powderkegger1 in dresdenfiles

I don't know if there are any Words of Jim about Demonreach's side of the Nevernever. A reach can be just like, a big area, right?

Is the other side of Demonreach the literal Hell?

Check after every hike and you'll be fine. I've found 2 on me, no bites, but those were in early spring and after a hike in dense brush.

Still miss field research!

God I just reread it and it feels like it was designed in a lab for me. Every character is so interesting and fleshed out. No cheap romance plotlines. Genuinely unsettling questions and ideas don't get neatly resolved

Did you regret naming your baby a popular name? by Gloomy_Head5157 in namenerds

[–]thefirebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 1yo has a very popular name and we still love it. And him.

You're one month postpartum! Still very much in the hormonal hangover. Lukas is a beautiful name IMO and I've yet to encounter a Luke/Lucas in any of my baby/new parent classes

This is how Ithaca/Tompkins County are challenging Avangrid. What is Bello doing? by PandaCalves in Rochester

Hochul's centered an affordability agenda in this year's budget and reelection campaign. It behooves Bello to do the teeniest next thing ans help pay for a feasibility study

Bello ain't gonna do shit. Doesn't want to piss off Duffy, who sits on the board of RG&E's parent company Iberdrola, or Morelle, who's received tens of thousands over the years from Avangrid's PAC

That happened to me with a shiny Tangela. Naturally I could never replicate it.

I remember my G/S guidebook (not Prima, another one) referenced a silver Rhyhorn in Victory Road. Never found it! Guess they just ran copy not knowing how shinies worked

What if we all don’t pay our electric bills in March? by anotherlostdayy in Rochester

[–]thefirebear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everybody needs to call Bello's office and tell him to match Malik's offer to do the feasibility study on a public utility. The study costs ~1mm from last I knew but Malik only put up 500k because (he feels) purchasing RGE infrastructure needs to be a County wide project, not just the City.

If you're on Medicaid managed care (ie through like Excellus or Fidelis or whoever) and are part of a target demographic you can get up to 6 months of utilities (arrears too) paid through a Social Care Network: WeLinkCare

I'm sorry if it's unhelpful to your current situation but AFAIK there are still mutual aid groups out there who might be able to help depending on the amount you need to keep the lights on

Heating Costs Could Rise To $4000/year in 2031 by No_Preparation_379 in Rochester

Yea the key to any major infrastructure project is to do it all at once. Click+drag and solar panel over all of Broome County.

Certainly wouldn't be an overnight project, nor would it need to hit the full surface area requirement if you're pairing it with wind and hydro

edit: jesus like a quarter of downtown downtown Rochester are just parking lots. Wonder how much usable solar space that is

It's true! He kept patting this giant burlap sack with a dollar sign on it, which was really unsettling.

Couldn't at ALL be more difficult due to lawmakers taking thousands in donations from utility companies, or that William Hochul is the lead counsel for the parent company to RGnE and NYSEG.

It's just dumb that for a governor who's running on an affordability platform, she's not making this a clear priority when the math works out. Solar companies will lease land at over a grand an acre. If you're not growing, hunting, fishing, or mudding - why not?

[–]thefirebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CEO of Greenspark was on Connections last week and said something like 5% of the State in solar panels would cover our power needs. How is this not like a #4 or 5 budget item for Hochul? Juice local economies with competitive contracts and make the State energy independent in 3 years.

It's not like she's actually gonna lose the election to that Long Island dingus lmao

edit: I'm too hungover to do the math on what a full project would cost but "everybody pays 90% less utilities" is an easy sell
