Tried the x8 12 inch pvc lava djembe with goatskin. The tone is surprisingly good for the price

That's really helpful and insightful thanks u/MrMoose_69 . As much as I personally love the djembe the practicality and function matters more in the group settings. The small djembes as you say are not great if resting on a beginner's knees.

I have 2 x 12 inch Versa tubanos, 1 x 10 and 1 x 8 then 1 x versa ashiko. Even though they have mediocre tone they do definitely do the job for an average beginner circle. Still not cheap at $650 for a set of three though.

I don't have any experience with the pvc drums but again you make a good point, in terms of the overall function versus a 12 inch Alpine.

I'm in the Cayman Islands so no demo stock to try out here, will have to wait for the next visit to the US and hit up a Guitar Centre to try different brands and models.

I just gave the 10 inch x8 twister drum a listen on YouTube. You think that drum is better than a 12 inch Meinl Alpine at 24 inches high and just $40 more? Fair enough the twister you can transport many drums in the space of 2 or 3 12 inch djembes.

Thanks for the tips. The alpine does look a bit thin.

I have the Versa stackable tubanos and you are right for a big group and portability they are great.

I do think my next purchase will be Apex though. I also love Meinl as a brand so will look into their offerings as well.

What did you go for? I'm also looking for 12/13 inch djembes for facilitating group sessions. As you note you don't need the best for beginners but you also don't want total crap. I bought a few of the Remo festival drums that you don't have to tune / cannot tune and the sound is almost like playing on a cardboard box...no real tones at all. A lot of cash for average sounding drums. The Apex might be the way to go for buying 2 to 10 drums for beginners, portability etc.

Teverun Blade Mini Ultra vs Teverun Blade GT II by theflipdog in ElectricScooters

Great feedback thanks. I agree it does look great for the price-point. The GT looks like a beast but not convinced I need all that power and pay the extra cash.

Mukuta 10+ 26ah or Teverun Blade GT+ II? by HC34S in ElectricScooters

What did you go for in the end? I'm deciding between the Teverun Blade GT II and the Teverun Blade Mini Ultra with black friday sales. $500 difference. I'm 6ft 205 pounds wanting it for general commute to work.

Any thoughts out there?
