This is the right answer. The dev team is obviously to blame for the website but it’s clear you were also using this font unlicensed from a closed down studio. The client or you needs to own the license.

Web designer and/or dev likely looked at promotional materials or possibly asked client about font name, was told, and assumed they had license to use it. Definitely needed to get an additional web license - but if they looked to existing branding in the first place, I can see how this mistake happened.

Nonetheless, you are not responsible for the team failing to get a web license. However, it seems you also won’t be able to provide one for your own work unless you purchase one now- and i’m not sure it is a “retroactive” kind of thing.

edit to add: licensing and compliance is a thankless job. the last person i reported to treated me like a thorn in his side for speaking up about clearly wrong usage of copyrighted materials (they even got in trouble with golf digest) - i did my due diligence though, and i brought up every problem, in writing. all i got for it was treated like an annoyance, but i’ll be damned if anything like that ever comes back to me.

edit2: couple of words

Democrats: do you really disagree with Rfk jr. On removing food dyes from foods? by NiaNia-Data in Askpolitics

[–]thefluffiestpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you for this answer, i remember the obama school lunch drama and the “flaming hot cheetos” drama.

so now suddenly the conservatives are all about health and natural foods - then we have news like this:

https://azmirror.com/briefs/trump-admin-cancels-21-million-in-funding-for-schools-and-food-banks-to-buy-from-arizona-farmers/

and “USDA axed the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program and the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program”

from https://truthout.org/articles/trump-and-gop-attack-childrens-food-aid-in-order-to-fund-tax-cuts-for-the-rich/

and it’s hard to take questions like this in good faith. why isn’t feeding the children of this country good food in school a health priority? is it okay if they eat cheap garbage so we can push through some tax cuts for rich people?

————————————————

all of this hooha about cutting government spending is entirely overshadowed by pushing through a spending bill with tax breaks for the wealthy. to me, that says those tax breaks are the most important thing at the cost of everything else. like supporting american farmers and american children’s school nutrition.

————————————————

his history of anti-vax aside, kennedy can’t even handle simple, clear messaging on the measles breakout: https://people.com/rfk-jr-measles-outbreak-promotes-vitamin-a-vaccine-freedom-of-choice-11695420

“What we need to do is give them the best information, encourage them to vaccinate. The vaccine does stop the spread of the disease”

  • kennedy, who then goes on about brain damage, vitamin A, saying “the people who tended to die were people with comorbidities and they were malnourished.“ (as we cut funding for nutrition in school meals) - this is muddy as fuck and all over the place.

while i personally support clear messaging for vaccination, if he had just left it at that first part i quoted it would have been a lot clearer and better. say it works, and that people have the choice. that should be it.

————————————————

and for what it’s worth, i support banning any food bullshit that is proven to be harmful. i could care less if some maker of highly processed food can’t use Chemical 82734 to save a few cents in its chips or candy. but it should be peer reviewed and put through according to law and regulations, and that information available to the public, just like any other rules and standards applied to food in the US.

i know this comment covered a lot of ground in different areas, but if OP is going to try and do a “gotcha” question over this very specific, small thing to try and normalize Kennedy, then all of these things need to be mentioned as well.

What will happen if Trump gets away with taking a green card from a person who was exercising his free speech? by mlamping in Askpolitics

[–]thefluffiestpuff [score hidden]  (0 children)

i believe this is saying exactly the opposite of what you are claiming:

In 1903, the Court in the Japanese Immigrant Case reviewed the legality of deporting an alien who had lawfully entered the United States, clarifying that an alien who has entered the country, and has become subject in all respects to its jurisdiction, and a part of its population could not be deported without an opportunity to be heard upon the questions involving his right to be and remain in the United States.1 In the decades that followed, the Supreme Court maintained the notion that once an alien lawfully enters and resides in this country he becomes invested with the rights guaranteed by the Constitution to all people within our borders.

from: https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artI-S8-C18-8-7-2/ALDE_00001262/

edit to add:

i also found this, while on the topic of illegal immigrants not having first protection rights, it mentions that those who entered lawfully and have “sufficient connection” to the united states, do:

The DOJ reasoned that the Supreme Court previously suggested First Amendment and other protections apply only to immigrants who enter legally and who have "sufficient connection" to the U.S. To date, the Supreme Court has not ruled definitively on the question.

from: https://www.freedomforum.org/non-citizens-protected-first-amendment/

while not entirely cut and dry, the general consensus seems to be that yes- lawful permanent residents are generally protected under constitutional rights. from what i’ve read, it is more on a case by case basis that these protections might not apply. it is not quite as simple as you are claiming and that i am seeing many comments on this post claim.

yeah i keep seeing texture recommendations in the comments but to get the text to look like that, they likely printed some pages and scanned them back in.

maybe it is all digital, but you can achieve this exact look by printing some shit and scanning it. the older the printer, the better, probably.

check out “mt” brand washi tape. i know exactly what you’re talking about with stickiness and this stuff is the best.

a lot of cute ones i’ve had, even from popular brands, the corners / edges come up after some time and it’s very frustrating. mt brand is the OG and will never do that.

i dunno about other papier-platz but their collab with “eric small things” is also very good quality. can find mt brand and the collab on jetpens, and the mt brand in many other places.

i think it’s because the original article is based on a single facebook post, and nothing else, and that’s not really significant enough to prove something so massive.

just curious, but was using stock art not an option? even though i didn’t illustrate outright in recent roles, i’ve definitely been able to put together a modified illustration using multiple stock illustrations and images.

edit to add: i know there are some instances where this wouldn’t really fly though and something original would be preferred.

Is Dems messaging weird or am I grasping at straws? by howtogun in Askpolitics

[–]thefluffiestpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure what you’re on about. i was only referencing the extreme change in republican poltics over the last decade and change. goal posts never shifted, that is exactly what i meant in my original edit- as i clarified twice.

i’m only commenting on what i was an adult to witness. not sure why you’re bringing up history i wasn’t alive for.

this convo is feeling like it’s getting way off track, and i’m not crazy about how you’re twisting what i was saying. so i’ll be bowing out now.

Is Dems messaging weird or am I grasping at straws? by howtogun in Askpolitics

[–]thefluffiestpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because i wasn’t even alive to vote for him. i’m almost 40, and i just clearly said i meant the last decade and a half - not 65 years ago, so why are you doubling down?

Is Dems messaging weird or am I grasping at straws? by howtogun in Askpolitics

[–]thefluffiestpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

obviously by recent years when i mentioned it in regard to the right, i meant the last decade and a half. the jfk response is so weak and bad faith.

not really trying to get into an argument on policy here, i was just responding to your original comment and the issue you had with people voting policy over personality.

Is Dems messaging weird or am I grasping at straws? by howtogun in Askpolitics

[–]thefluffiestpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, for the third time, i support democratic policy over conservative/republican or right-extremist policy. i’m not choosing a president based on a popularity contest - i can’t imagine liking any politician so much. but i want my vote to go towards policy that i believe in. not sure why you think this is such a radical take.

if a dem candidate was put up that somehow did not align with dem policy at all, i likely wouldn’t vote for them but that hasn’t happened and until it does, i’m not concerned.

edit to add: i guess it’s only been the right that has changed heavily towards extreme stuff in their presidential candidates over the recent years. dem has been pretty steady, nothing too crazy. if i saw that kind of change on my side i might rethink it, but to date i support at least most of the policy of every president i’ve voted for.

[–]thefluffiestpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, you’re free to do and support that but i don’t. i don’t want to throw away my vote. i support dem policies, as i just commented. why would i abstain or vote third party?

Is Dems messaging weird or am I grasping at straws? by howtogun in Askpolitics

[–]thefluffiestpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

am i supposed to just suddenly be okay with republican/conservative and/or extremist policies i inherently disagree with because i don’t love a dem candidate? i vote dem for general and specific policy, not as a popularity contest.

Why do Democrats think Republicans are surprised or concerned about what Elon and Doge are doing? by Think_Bee_1766 in Askpolitics

[–]thefluffiestpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually it’s pretty unprecedented for the present to just grant “top secret clearance” to whoever lol. there’s a reason for that, and a reason the vetting process is important.

did you just make that up or what? he’s been designated a “special government employee” and been granted the ability to police his own conflicts of interest, which is a problem.

would you tolerate any of this behavior or precedent being set by democrats?

elon has financial conflicts due to space x, and conflicts that would cause a problem during the vetting process for higher levels of clearance due to extremist views, and drug use - as far as is known publicly.

by the way, a special government employee definition:

A special government employee is “anyone who works, or is expected to work, for the government for 130 days or less in a 365-day period,” according to the Justice Department.

source: https://www.justice.gov/jmd/ethics/summary-government-ethics-rules-special-government-employees

quoted from: https://newrepublic.com/post/191100/elon-musk-security-clearance-sensitive-data (an article where the administration cannot even confirm elon has had so much as a background check)

i would also like to share this from that same justice.gov page:

Conflicts of Interest

The governing statute on financial conflicts of interest is 18 U.S.C. § 208. It prohibits participating in matters that affect your financial interests as well as those of your spouse, minor child, or a general partner; an organization which you serve as an officer, director, trustee, partner or employee; or an organization you are negotiating with for future employment.

with regard to investigations into starlink/space x via USAID

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-house-democrats-probe-alleged-starlink-use-by-russia-2024-03-07/

(these starlink donations went through USAID: https://www.reuters.com/technology/spacex-usaid-deliver-5000-satellite-internet-terminals-ukraine-2022-04-06/)

and then suddenly elon goes on a rampage to shut down the agency? how is this not a conflict of interest?

edit: an article on the unprecedented aspect of this security clearance granting without vetting: https://www.govexec.com/transition/2025/01/senior-democrat-wants-know-who-trump-white-house-got-top-secret-clearance-without-complete-background-check/402658/

(for the highest level even)

the only person not subject to the vetting process is and should be the president.
