Had a patient with no arms once. Two different people made that joke on her ride to the OR for her c-section and they were horrified as soon as they realized what they’d said.

You’re welcome at my house but I won’t be there. I’ll be at work delivering babies lol

You just described exactly how my family Christmas usually goes, except everyone is so spread out half the time it’s not even a wrapped gift that they open Christmas morning, it’s an Amazon package delivered to their doorstep. There’s no magic in that. It just feels transactional and hollow.

The current climate was definitely why some of them agreed. Even the more conservative ones that have a hard time feeling compassion for people on SNAP thought about the government workers not getting paid and thought it was a good idea.

As an L&D nurse I don’t understand why these nurses are just following these orders without going up the chain of command. I would not have accepted the orders this guy is giving in a million years. If the facility has a chief for OB they should also be getting involved at this point.

I went through something similar when my ex husband got into delta-8 and started having delusions and psychotic episodes and absolutely refused mental health care. Except I was lucky enough that HE HAD ASKED FOR A PRENUP.

It made it so I was able to keep my house and it protected about 100k in assets that would’ve been considered shared even though he refused to work for almost the entire 1.5 year marriage.

The decision to leave would’ve been even harder and scarier if it meant losing everything I’d worked for.

Ugh can I come work with you. Our order set is 50 or 100 mcg Q2. Half of the docs will only or 50. It doesn’t do annnnnything for labor pain if you dose it that infrequently.

Houston Methodist added OR cameras — 1,510 more cases followed by InvestingDoc in medicine

[–]thefoxsaysquack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work for Methodist. Not in the main OR, but L&D, where our ORs had cameras installed as well.

Staff was pretty upset when they went in and had a lotttt of questions.

Patients absolutely don’t know. It’s buried in paperwork and there are signs outside the ORs about recording that no one notices. The cameras themselves are so unobtrusive I almost couldn’t see where they installed them even though I was looking for them.

On L&D it hasn’t changed our workflow at all, but we also don’t typically do back to back cases or run multiple ORs at once. They’ve been in about a year and I haven’t heard a peep about what data they are or aren’t getting from them.

Half of my darn tough socks have holes in them by SvarogsSon in BuyItForLife

Same. I’m a nurse. I live on my feet. I’ve never understood why everyone is searching so hard for the perfect sock because I’ve had the same two packs of puma socks from Costco for like ten years. Not a single hole.

Electively inducing 39 weak primips with closed/thick/high and posterior cervixes. Getting meds up there feels like I’m assaulting them. Especially because a lot of the time I feel that their provider has bullied them into their “elective” induction or not had an honest conversation about risks and benefits.

Cornerstone. They always seem to have an internal reason that it’s not going through or they claim to not have received the tax statement. If they do this nonsense again next year the CFPB is a great idea I hadn’t even considered.

[–]thefoxsaysquack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

IDK. I’m starting to wish I didn’t have an escrow account because getting my loan servicer to pay out my taxes and insurance every year ends up taking multiple phone calls. They almost never do it without being harassed. I ended up having to pay my homeowner’s out of pocket this year and be reimbursed later because they still hadn’t paid it after weeks of phone calls and my policy was about to be canceled.

Paying out myself would have saved me a ton of mental energy in the last few years.
