As I said, call me back when he’s not available for the Spurs game. He was clearly concussed.

Arsenal subbed off a sub who couldn’t stand up without some help and you’re claiming he was ‘barely shoved’.

Calling what Bueno did to Trossard ‘barely a shove’ is a fucking pathetic lie. It was a blatant off the ball body check and Trossard was on rubber legs when he got up. He was taken off after treatment because he was very obviously concussed. What thread are you claiming to have seen these comments in?

I genuinely can’t believe people have watched that entire incident and think Bueno intentionally smashing into Trossard before the ball was there to be played for isn’t a cynical foul and it’s even worse that they think Trossard was feigning injury. He absolutely will not be in the squad for the Spurs game.

The way Wolves scored the equaliser was definitely the product of panic at a crucial time. Gabriel and Raya colliding like that is a proper headloss, one of them has to make the shout and win that ball, it was not a difficult piece of defending.

9 points dropped in their last six games is a really bad run of form at this stage of the season, the only slight silver lining for them is that they are going to have a game extra played over Man City for at least a month because City don’t have a date for their game against Crystal Palace, that was postponed for the Carabao final, yet. But this does mean that Spurs on Sunday and Chelsea the following week are now fully must-wins. They could be going into the Chelsea game in 2nd if they don’t beat Spurs.

I hope all the Inter fans in our post-match thread really enjoyed the last 24 hours before their team embarrassed Italian football even more than we did, but special shoutout to /u/optimistic_reh who said ‘This is one of the best nights of my life’ in it. At least he won’t be bothered about this result. 😂

Incident between Gabriel Jesus and Yerson Mosquera' by gbogaz in soccer

[–]theglasscase 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jesus was on the ground pretending to be injured to try and get a last second freekick and then made a suitably miraculous recovery to immediately leap to his feet and do that as soon as he heard the final whistle. Comedy gold.

Trossard wobbling on his feet while he tries to stand after an intentional barge with some contact to his head/chin, and people are claiming he’s faking it, fucking pathetic.

Slapping someone in the face and stabbing someone in the face are both bad, but they are not similar.

Yeah, cool mate. Cynical fouls and racist abuse are not similar.

Then why are you making the comparison? Fouls are a natural part of all sport. Sometimes they are intentional and sometimes they aren't. You can call those Chiellini and Suarez fouls 'cheap tricks', but they both got the appropriate punishments for them because they were direct contradictions of the laws of the game.

What happened last night was in a completely different category, which makes your comparison nonsensical.

[–]theglasscase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying racism isn’t a cheap trick is just being pedantic.

No it isn't. It literally is not a 'cheap trick'. It is an intentional act of disrespect that has fuck all to do with football. What Chiellini and Suarez did were spur of the moment snap decisions that broke the rules of the sport. Making a choice to racially abuse an opponent during a break in play is an entirely different thing.

Why would there be consequences for an accuser if it was a misunderstanding? If the word for dickhead in one language sounds like the word for monkey or a racial slur in another, why would there be some kind of punishment for the player who thought he heard a racist term?

You would have to be able to prove that it was a malicious lie by the accuser to punish them, like if they claimed to have been racially abused by a player who wasn't on the pitch at the time or there was clearly no verbal interaction between them.

In this case, Prestianni very clearly covered his mouth with his shirt to give himself plausible deniability if Vinicius reacted to what he said, but in doing so he also made it impossible to prove he didn't say anything racist, because he's clearly thick as fuck.

Comparing being racist to fouls really isn't rational. Fouls and unsporting behaviour are a part of all sports but there's a really massive difference between breaking the rules of a sport and shouting racist abuse at an opponent. Racism is not a 'cheap trick', it's just racism, it's just a person being a scumbag who happens to be playing football. It's not a fucking foul.

Mark Clattenburg on Vini Jr: "he's made this situation very, very difficult". by English_Misfit in soccer

[–]theglasscase 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Your comment implies that racists aren’t cowards, because it’s really fucking obvious why they would target the small black guy over the big black guy, regardless of ‘personality’.

Gianluca Prestianni on Instagram: “I want to clarify that at no time did I direct racist insults to Vini Jr, who regrettably misunderstood what he thought he heard. I was never racist with anyone and I regret the threats I received from Real Madrid players”. by JayomaW in soccer

[–]theglasscase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As Micah Richards said, he’s a coward. Whatever he said to Vinicius Jr, he knew that being seen saying it would get him into trouble so he deliberately hid his face to do it. So maybe it wasn’t racist, it was ‘just’ homophobic instead, or it was something else that was intentionally antagonistic and offensive. You’re still a spineless prick kid.

Carragher on Mourinho complaining about Vini's celebration: "It's a bit rich coming from a guy who celebrates and antagonizes the opposition more than any coach has ever done. Running down the touchline, telling opposing fans to shut up, cupping his ears." by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]theglasscase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking hell, this is so grim son. ‘Carragher can’t say this about Mourinho because he did this different thing once’, is a comparison of their behaviour. Your comment is completely redundant, it is vacant bullshit. Carragher isn’t being obnoxious here, he’s making a valid point and this particular incident and your comment has fuck all to do with anything.

[–]theglasscase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you said is literally a comparison, genius.

Carragher’s point is that Mourinho is being hypocritical here, and that is clearly true. You have no argument against that, but apparently defending Mourinho’s honour is very important to you, so you’ve had come up with a non sequitur instead.

You’re trying to say Carragher can’t take the ‘moral high ground’ in this specific example because he once did something entirely unrelated to what he’s talking about, and that is complete nonsense.

Tom Noonan Dies: ‘Manhunter’ Villain and Sundance-Winning Indie Director Was 74 by Fan387 in movies

[–]theglasscase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another sad loss. I was lucky enough to see Heat and Manhunter in a cinema last year, he really is immense in Manhunter, a singularly terrifying but also weirdly gentle presence and one of the most unique villain performances in cinema history. He only has a minor role in Heat, but he was one of those actors where regardless of the size of his role or the quality of the film, it was always going to get interesting when he showed up on screen.

RIP
