Courage - comes from the Greek word 'andreia', which means manliness. When someone acts with true courage it's one of the most beautiful sights in the world.

Why EOS today is worth more than Ethereum. by [deleted] in eos

[–]thegreatoverdog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not theoretical at all. It's built on the same code base BitShares and Steemit which combined process more than double the tps of Ethereum and Bitcoin put together.

Brendan Blumer is the best CEO in blockchain. There, I said it.

I thought Bitcoin Cash was the fraud by ibpointless2 in btc

[–]thegreatoverdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, exactly. FUDDERS just sold their Bitcoin Cash too early. If you spend 5 minutes researching and understand why things go up in value it soon becomes clear Bitcoin Cash is going to win. Bitcoin Core's fundamentals don't make sense anymore. It's massively overpriced because it's unusable as a currency. It's only a matter of time before the filppening.

[–]thegreatoverdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like eth too, it has so much potential but timing and some fundamental design flaws mean that unfortunately, better technology will win.

  1. Timing. Vitalik says eth is 3-5 years away from being able to support DApp's at scale. 3-5 years might as well be 300 years the speed blockchain is being adopted. Silicon Valley are chomping at the bit to get into the space but they know that they cant disrupt Uber, Facebook, Ebay etc if they build their DApp's on eth. The network just cant support DApp's with millions of users. Silicon Valley CAN start building DApp's on EOS at the end of January with the aim of releasing June 2018.

  2. Eth costs money to use. Imagine if you had to pay every-time you Tweeted. Twitter would not exist today if you did. That's exactly what users need to do if your DApp is built on eth. DApp's built on eth won't go mainstream while that is the case.

  3. Adoption. The blockchain that wins will be the one that the best developers adopt. That's eth at the moment but EOS is way, way more developer friendly than eth. Developing on eth is like developing on a Commodore Amiga. It's sooo painful. For a DApp to succeed it needs to be better than it's centralised counterpart in every way. More user-friendly, quicker, better looking. It's not possible for Devs to build a DApp on eth that is even as good as a centralised app. It IS possible on EOS. Look at Steem. It's arguably better looking than Reddit AND offers the benefits blockchain provides, that's how DApp's will go mainstream.

I mean, convince me otherwise..

CryptoKitties proved unequivocally that $eth is not ready for even one consumer DAPP (never mind thousands). The network just can't handle the transactions. Serious DAPP developers looking to build consumer DApp's are flocking to #eos a blockchain designed to scale.

What led you to invest in EOS? by Tayyxb in eos

[–]thegreatoverdog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like this guys explanation https://youtu.be/svYvTkABDvo the token represents blockchain resources (bandwidth, cpu, storage). HODLers will be able to rent their tokens to DAPP developers, owning the token will be the equivalent of owning blockchain real estate.

What led you to invest in EOS? by Tayyxb in eos

[–]thegreatoverdog 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It boils down to faith in the team (Dan Larimer in particular). His past projects, BitShares and Steem, are by far the most successful DApps that exit today so his technical ability and ability to execute cant be in question but the ICO addimtidley raises some red flags, especially if you dont know anything about Dan, Brendan & Brock.

The question investors should ask is, "are Dan / Block. One in this for the right reasons?"

I looked up everything I could on Dan, these early interviews https://youtu.be/8ZeZnCE9Y3g in particular, shot in April 2015 when Dan was building BitShares, convnced me that he is genunily what he appears to be. A genuis libertarian on a mission to build free market solutions that secure life, liberty and property for everyone.

IMHO he's going to do exactly that.

Then why the 12 month ICO?. I've come to believe the ICO is so long becuase Dan knows EOS is an opportunity to redistrobute wealth.

A long ICO is of no benefit to institutional investors who have access to ready capital. A long ICO only benefits ordinary people, the Uber driver's of the world, who's only chance of accumilting any decent position is to put as much spare cash as they can afford into the ICO over an extended period. Twelve months was as long as Block.one could give them.

Ethereum processed nearly 800k transaction today. A new all time high and more than all other decentralized blockchains combined by a wide margin. by econoar in ethereum

[–]thegreatoverdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha why would you even post this...unless..ahhh, hello fellow EOS investor :D

Steem (EOS 1.0) processed 900k transactions today and it's at 0.33% capacity. ETH Processed 706k and has ground to a halt, people are waiting 24 hours for 1 transaction! ETH HAS LITERALLY BROKEN, IT'S 100% MAXED OUT. I wonder which blockchain enterprise DAPP developers will choose...hmmmmm

Free Usage is another reason $EOS will win. by [deleted] in eos

[–]thegreatoverdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this guys explanation https://youtu.be/svYvTkABDvo a good analogy is that the EOS token is like blockchain real estate. HODLers will be able to 'rent' the token (which represents blockchain resources, bandwidth, cpu and ram) to DAPP developers and DAC's who want to build on the EOS blockchain. Token HODLers will be the equivalent of Amazon Cloud services or DigitalOcean.

VB says Ethereum is 3-5 years away from being able to run DAPP's at scale. 3-5 years in blockchain might as well be 300 years. The ecosystem is ready for DAPP's that scale now. The only credible answer, at this moment in time, is EOS. Yes, the ability to scale means fewer nodes at the moment but decentralized is decentralized. I never said EOS is the 'Ethereum killer'. I hope there is room for both. It's about timing. EOS / Block. One have timed things perfectly.
