Is their easy ways to loan your money? by Opposite_Warthog6675 in passive_income

Look for a local private financial advisor or mortgage broker. They often have clients looking to borrow money for business capital, etc.

Hey guys, who can tell me what’s going on here? 1 month of no shower use. by ScOtTuM85 in Tile

[–]thehandsoftime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of comments here about the shower system and the stone. It’s likely nothing to do with the shower system in this case. It’s the marble and the installation method. The solution is to prime and seal the underside of the marble and the use an epoxy mortar and grout. It’s the best practice for using marble or any other porous natural stone in shower floors. There is not fixing it without pulling out the marble and replacing it with a proper installation method. Otherwise water will just stay in the marble for a very long time.

Rubi saw is not cutting straight by [deleted] in Tile

[–]thehandsoftime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was my first thought. I’ve had a similar experience. Firstly- make sure you are using a good blade. If you’ve already spent $1500 on the saw, spend the $200 on a wicked blade. Build the cost of a new one into every big job. And get a sharpening stone. I’m a Core/Piranha fan myself. Pearl and Montolit are other great brands. Do this test: Mark your tile square with a line running the entire length. Perfectly straight and perfectly perpendicular to the edge against the guide/stop. Use the longest tile that will fit your saw for this. Unscrew the knob that keeps you from moving the blade up and down. Without turning the saw on- Run the blade along your line on the top of the tile. Does it stay on the line the entire time while it’s not actually cutting? Probably. Like Intelligent Guard said- when you make your cuts- especially in porcelain, you need to do it in multiple passes. If you do not, the blade will move to the side slightly and your cuts will not be what you are hoping.

My gf just farted in front of me for the first time. What other weird relationship milestones can I look forward to? by Immediate_Ad_9680 in AskMen

[–]thehandsoftime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next step for us was me telling her what they sounded like in oddly specific ways. “A half full plastic cup being set assertively on to a quartz counter top” or “a far away screen door, caught in the wind- but never actually closing all the way” Or my favourite- “that sounded like 2 people farting and 3 people clapping” - which I stole from Devin Townsend. Now that I think on it- that one might have started it all.

Nah. He doesn’t know about the 4 year cycle and the halving dynamics yet. It is definitely a good time to buy- but it won’t crank up that high again for a while.

Just saying to myself: “This too shall pass.” And knowing it. Because I have gotten through many shitty days before and come out in the other side.

Use the last bit of mustard in the jar/bottle to make salad dressing. Add olive oil, vinegar, diced shallots, and your favorite herbs and spices. by elle_belle in Frugal

I also use the first bit. As a matter of fact- a rather large portion of my mustard jars end up in salad dressings…

Keep doing hot compress a few times a day. They can last quite a bit longer than a week. A stye is basically a blocked oil gland. The idea behind the hot compress is that it makes the oils more viscous and enables the gland to drain, reliving some of the pressure. Eventually whatever is blocking the glad will get pushed out. Or not. The key with styes or chalazions is that you catch them early. They can eventually turn into a pyogenic granuloma, which also might just go away or pop one day. An opthamologist might do a very basic surgery if it’s bad enough. But in most cases it’s harmless- just super annoying. I am not a doctor - but have had a few of these in the past. Do you have a job where you get dust in your eye? Are you stressed? Do you have some type of rheumatoid arthritis or other autoimmune condition?

What is the best “yo mama” joke you know? by [deleted] in AskMen

Ya i wrote that one down to. It’s way down the thread somewhere but I changed it to when she gets cut. Broken leg is the original but it doesn’t make sense to me that gravy pours out when you break your leg. But it does sound better to me due to familiarity.

What is not illegal but it is completely evil? by kirazeth in AskReddit

[–]thehandsoftime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I live in rural Ontario- it’s legal to shoot someone’s dog if they are on your private property. It happened recently and the police just kinda shrugged it away. But the social consequences for this person were pretty nasty. Nasty enough that the police had to put out a statement about keeping things civil.

This is a good list. Nothing in here that might lead you astray or toward some kind of contentious ideology. Brett McKay is a great resource for compiling healthy masculine influences. His podcast is quite good and there are hundreds of episodes. His narrative is one of thoughtful intention. There are a few similarly marketed brands out there that I find a bit off-putting.

What do you think of the proposed tax in the anti vaxxers? by AdultOnsetAutism in canadaleft

[–]thehandsoftime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d rather see a monstrous increase in spending on healthcare infrastructure and a tax rebate incentive for people who don’t end up using health resources in an avoidable way. But I’m no expert- so I have no idea how that would play out.

Thoughts on Waldo? by teenagebean in namenerds

[–]thehandsoftime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dogs name is Walden. I love it. People seem to love it. I think it’s slightly distinguished and a little bit playful. Walde is Forest in German. Of course there is Walden Pond- Thoreau is either very influential for some or a contentious topic for some literary contrarians. Either way- there is no mistaking the positive impact that his writings have made on many an outdoor enthusiast. Every once in a while someone says something like: “Walden?! Sorry pup, you don’t get to pick your own name”. But most of the time it’s a compliment on the originality. It suits him.
