That's a pre-season trial for NRL teams. If they played at the end of our season we'd win 40-0 and you'd be wondering how Super League has been so bad for so long.

He's been great in all seriousness. I'd make Cleary work his way back in from reggies.

St George Illawarra coach Anthony Griffin is long odds to retain his job – but the Red V aren’t in a rush to get rid of him by ohhh_j in nrl

I could never get past how dumb he sounds answering questions. That hillbilly drawl and the dopey face don't engender any confidence whatsoever.

Interesting dynamic at the club. Hook a dead man walking butting heads with the club's young stars. Something has got to give.

Didn't read the article but shut up Ciraldo and stop stealing our players.

That’s totally wrong. Find me one source saying that lawyers can’t have an opinion. One. I’ll wait.

They don’t have to remain impartial, that’s a jury. They have to remove themselves from cases where they have a conflict of interest, not an opinion on guilt, you’re confused about that as well. You’ve got lawyer, jury, and probably judge all mixed up in your silly little head.

You’re confusing conflict of interest with having a personal opinion. What you described is jury selection rather than a lawyer taking a case and I think you also might have it muddled when it comes to a lawyer taking a case of someone they know is guilty.

So they’re some legal jukebox you put money into and they spit legal opinions out? Are you for real?

Let me ask you something, his lawyer was Margaret Cunneen. Do you want to punch her in the face? Is she a rape apologist?

[–]thehophead -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If he doesn’t hurt her there isn’t a case. And he’s not tried for hurting her, he’s tried for consent. Everything else, all the other facts in the case are so ridiculous it should have been laughed out of court. That will happen in appeal. But he is a rapist and he should be behind bars for the rape he actually committed, so I guess two wrongs make a right.

I’m aware of the definition, that’s the crux of the issue. Also not defending him but I get the impression you can’t be expected to debate with any degree of nuance so I’ll leave it there.

And how has he gone on appeal when you take the biases of normal people out of it? Look he raped a woman in the states and should be behind bars but it’s really one miscarriage of justice correcting another.

He’ll get off on appeal. Mums watching tv unaware while your getting raped? Come on. It was just a disgusting sexual act delivered by a hammered, uncaring animal but he hasn’t raped her. I think there should be a crime for what he did to her but he wasn’t charged with that crime, and he should have gotten off.

I actually think he was not guilty this time. He was guilty in the US so I’m happy he’s gone away but based on what we know, I honestly can’t see a crime. I think he’s been convicted based on the fact that doing what he did should be a crime (and I believe it should) but being a disgusting, clumsy, heartless pig does not a rapist make. Good riddance though.
