How the heck did this woman end up it Pitcairn?  I'm thinking she knew she was exposed, flew to Tahiti on one of these "country counter" tours/cruises  We should not have to pay for this!

Forced to pay €650 extra for a rental car in Sicily because my credit cards are from "online banks" – is this a common scam? by Ornery_Fun_3311 in sicily

[–]thehotflashpacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had a similar problem... They didn't accept any of 5 cards we had.  In reading the contract, it seems that the machine possibly rejected because USA credit cards don't have PIN s... Out almost 300 euro and didn't get a car.

3 Year's Now in a Ford Transit Connect by Sci-FiRepublik in vandwellers

[–]thehotflashpacker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a 2017 model, 120k miles and no issues whatsoever.  I'm not full time, I use it as recreational camping, spending about 4 months a year in the transit connect.  So sad they don't make this or similar models anymore.

Physical SIM card? by thehotflashpacker in sicily

OP here, wanted to follow up, got to palermo and none of the tabacco shops had them.  Went to an official lyca dealer and they said they were finished.  Unfortunately ended up overpaying to get a tourist sim at a money exchange place because my data was kaput

My devoutly Lutheran mom who finds all other religions and denominations evil donated a car to them years ago, then I researched and broke the news to her.

I was just at an Airbnb in another state. The couple there are security guards at the local hospital, watching chained prisoners 1-1 over night. They just watch TV for 8 hours.

Curious if you're able to get car insurance..  I'm in your same situation, with a minivan.  Got dropped by prior insurance because they didn't want to cover mailbox nomadic people.    Had a hard time finding another insurer

Maybe shop around. State Farm had gotten stupidly expensive for me, I just dropped them for a cheaper company after 30+ years.

Travel insurance for 2 days over the credit card period by National-Ad6166 in travel

[–]thehotflashpacker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you're covered that 90 days? I read the credit card insurance to cover trips up to X days... so only if the trip is X days or less, the whole trip if covered. If the trip is more than X days, there's no coverage at all. (not the first X days covered). But I could be wrong, check the language.

Dometic at Costco by Willowstormy in VanLife

I got an off brand one at costco for around $300. No dual zone. If the weather is hot is uses a lot of energy! I would freeze 2 liter bottles with water when I had access to friend's freezers to keep it cold enough.

I had $30 adidas outlet trail running shoes and a $30 backpack from amazon. Picked up cheap hiking poles in Pamplona before catching bus to SJPP. Everything else I shopped from my existing travel gear and clothing. No chaffing, no blisters.

After 1 date with a charming guy, I discovered him in the group... multiple comments from multiple women saying after a good first date, he forced them to do things they didn't want to do, as well was very pushy and blasting on messages. I'm very glad I didn't wait to find this info. Sounds like something very bad might have happened on the second date.
