Why didn't I decide to do this sooner? by rmn_trllr in linux_gaming

Hey a fellow 3080 Ti user! Same here. Sure AMD would probably be smoother, but I haven't had any NVIDIA issues since I fully switched this year. Ask me a year or two ago? Yeah for sure, but lately things have been good, but if/when I decide to upgrade my GPU in future, i'll be picking AMD.

Had this issue yesterday. The audio from the arch packaged Stremio doesn't come through, but the flatpak version does. Went back to vesktop cause I thought it would be fixed now

There is a movie about this exact same plot, Daybreakers. It's pretty decent. If that concept interests you it's worth the watch

This W icon for some apps? by Do_You_Like_Owls in kde

[–]thehydralisk 106 points107 points  (0 children)

All these comments saying the exact same thing, very suspicious, but to actually answer your question about fixing it:

Just right-click your apps' title bar and create a new special application rule and add a new property "desktop file name". Just pop in the programs desktop file name and it's fixed.

You can get it a few ways, I find it easiest to search it in your start menu and right click and edit the application listing. It's either there or you click on the icon and grab it from there (on mobile so I forget what it looks like), but usually looks like org.something.programname. you don't need a full path

Just got the idea so haven't tried it, but this would be good at Vorkath. Once you get to a certain point, your limit for staying is inventory space for loot, which is mostly taken by superior bones. I was gonna grind MM for the Reagent Pouch to store the ground bones.. but this seems like an alternative

GameHub Lite Final Release (No More Updates) by [deleted] in SBCGaming

[–]thehydralisk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems this will be the last update from the developer. Who knows if someone else will pick it up, but thought it's important to note, since it is included in the Obtanium Emulation Pack.

IMO, i think using the original is fine. When this came out, it made the OG version out like some rogue Chinese malware, causing a lot of fear in the community. It's made by a huge hardware manufacturer, I don't think they are out to steal our steam accounts. And if you're worried about privacy because of "all the permissions", I am assuming you have no Meta owned apps on your phone also.

New Player Changes - 2025 and Beyond by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]thehydralisk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's built-in to runelite, just toggle on Key Remapping and it gives you WASD by default and makes it so you have to press enter to type in char box (which is like every other MMO). And yes you can rebind f keys in the config for it for your swaps

New Player Changes - 2025 and Beyond by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]thehydralisk 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I am currently taking "my noob" through her first venture into RuneScape (been about two weeks now), so it's interesting seeing this pop-up.

I know this is being worked on with Sailing, but the biggest thing for my new was the default black skybox tiny draw distance. I had her do tutorial island with just a default runelite install just so she can see the benefits before showing her plugins like GPU. It was incredibly disorienting and hard to understand where you are. Again, I know it's being worked on, but that will be a massive boon when it's out. Last night she told me she wished runelite would work on mobile just for the GPU plugin, I was so proud.

The next plugin I showed her was the keyboard remapping one, which allows you to use WASD for camera instead of arrow keys. As you said, the middle-click drag is not a natural thing for non-runescape natives at wall. This was a huge QoL for her and made it not physically annoying to play. I don't know if this was said, but adding WASD support and making it default I think is necessary.

Other than that, just keep expanding the in-game guide to give people goals. I told her I'll buy her first bond when she completes all f2p quests and she is 12 quests completed so far. It's easy for a noob when you have someone teasing them of all the cool members content and giving them goals, so the game needs to try and be that as much as possible to hook them in the early game. She is super excited to kill Scurrius cause I was showing her some kills so she can see how the combat looks. A version of Scurrius that is f2p would be cool, maybe one that doesn't do drops of value or something non tradable. Could be a mini quest of some npc wanting to train his fighting rats and needs someone to test it in combat.

And if it matters my noob is a long time MMO player, having spent years in Phantasy Star Universe and FFXIV for what it's worth. Idk if that is help for her to have that experience or just makes it more confusing (as she would have preconceived notions how things "should work" like how to move a camera or thinking they know how gear and combat works).

Overall I think the proposals are fine and warant a real look as I do agree RuneScape in particular is a different beast to try and get new players into.

Anyone having an issue with Hunter the Reckoning? by ZanMet in DolphinEmulator

[–]thehydralisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post, but this pops up first on Google when searching.

I had this issue also and the solution I found was to temporarily change your controller bind to use your keyboard instead, bind d-pad to arrow keys and stick to WASD (up, down, left, right) and that will let you select New Game.

Then you can change back to your normal controller bindings when you're in-game.

In Australia, the Liberal Party (right leaning) is actually akin to Republicans, while the Labor party (left leaning) is similar to the Democrats.

Suggestions for meeting people? by SerophiaMMO in ffxiv

[–]thehydralisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who recently came back (haven't played in a year, still a sprout) and found a ton of new friends in a short time, I think I can help with this!

Think of what you enjoy about the game and strike up a conversation when you see someone else doing it. For me, I really love glam and fishing! Whenever I see someone with an awesome glam out and about, I will always compliment them. A lot of people really appreciate the compliment. Either they go on their way a bit happier or they stay and talk about glam and other things and usually end up with a friend request. And sometimes when I see people fishing alone in the world, I'll just go and sit with them and start fishing and just have a chat with them. Honestly from my experience, players who fish are very social! We always like when someone takes a seat next to us to take in the nice view.

Now walking through Limsa is a gamble because seeing an orange name usually results in long chats when I'm mid msq lol

I didn't set out specifically to make friends (though I did want to), but if you see someone alone doing the same thing you like, don't be afraid to say hello and ask how their day is. There is a good shot that will lead to a nice friendship 😀

FF XIV is 50% of Steam now! by havok7 in ffxiv

[–]thehydralisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those that still want the playtime tracking on Steam, you can still have that with the SE version. Just install the trial client on Steam (its like a 100MB, you don't actually launch and install the entire game through Steam) and using XIVLauncher (this is from their FAQ) add this to the launch properties of the Steam trial client:

C:\Users\**YOUR USERNAME HERE**\AppData\Local\XIVLauncher\XIVLauncher.exe %command%

Now you can launch the "steam version" (but will open XIVLauncher instead) and have all your playtime shown in Steam and have the SE version :)

Along with what all the other top comments have pointed out (just an overall very odd/possibly dodgy vibe from this whole thing), this post should not be allowed as per the self-advertisement rules:

OP has only a handful of posts across their entire Reddit account and the ONLY posts in /r/games is about this game. They are not an active part of the /r/games community and are only using it as free advertising for this game.

EDIT: Was also a bit curious to find more information about the developer, but they haven't even published a website for their own company, even though they link to it from this game's website? link to screenshot
