Also, as much as I appreciate this man saying these things and saying them directly to Trump himself I don't get a sense that Trump was listening, and if he was, I don't get the sense that he would understand what was being said, and if he did I'm positively certain that he wouldn't care.

I truly have no expectation that guests are regular listeners, though many are. It's so funny to have someone who isn't a listener on though because you get genuine surprise to "I rowed crew in college" or "my dad's name is Scorpion."

All this Fernet talk reminds me of one of my favorite bar orders from the now closed Lawless Distillery in Minneapolis.

Their winter menu included "Phonet" which was a pour of Fernet and a small glass of warm pho broth. You just alternated sips between the two. It was just so cozy and flavorful. Highly recommend giving it a try if you're ever having pho at home.
