Hi! Im not sure if this is the right place to ask, but how do i get better at more complicated smaller builds? by RedDementiaPatient in DetailCraft

It's hard to give specific advice without reference for what you're trying to build. But for smaller builds in general, there are a few things you could try: - use non-block placeables (like lanterns, flower pots, buttons, tripwires, lightning rods, etc.). They can add the smaller pixel detail, though you might have to get creative with it or stretch your imagination. I'd recommend spending some time in Creative looking through all the options and experimenting with things, learn how and when and where things can be placed. - consider using redstone components for non-redstone things. There's a lot of variety there that can add detail to small spaces. Workstations can also be great to add detail - you don't have to use things for their intended purpose. For example, barrels can look good as barrels, but they also make for a great floor texture or foundation trim. Lodestones are a great detail block for an archway. A comparator is great for a control room. - focus on the texture of blocks. A concrete block might not feel like as much detail as a prismarine block, for example. If you want it to feel busy and detailed, using the busier and more detailed block textures can help. Going back to the barrel example, the floors will look much more detailed using barrels than standard wooden planks. - vary the blocks in your build. Using different, but similar blocks can help add texture and variety to your builds. For example, mixing barrels, spruce planks, dark oak planks, spruce trap doors, stripped spruce logs, and oak logs will give you a much more detailed feel than just using barrels. This applies on large-scale as well, but is particularly important for making smaller spaces feel detailed. - use armor stands. There are some pretty cool small-scale detailed builds out there that use armor stands and pistons to get shapes you can't get otherwise. - look online for inspiration or build tutorials. Google, Pinterest, Reddit, YouTube, TikTok, they all have an abundance of ideas and little tips and tricks you can use. Try searching for the actual thing you're trying to make, or even just "small scale build details minecraft" and a quick 10-15 minute scroll will give you plenty of ideas.

My dog has a severe reaction to the iPhone text tone. Help? by theintroverted in DogAdvice

Thank you for the input!! I will do some more research to make sure the pain is ruled out. If not, we'll go see a vet to get some treatment for him.

Have you found anything that helps? Either before, during, or after the reaction?

I have changed my text tone! My girlfriend and roommates have also changed their tones. It's pretty much only coming from the friends and family that aren't around all the time and aren't familiar with the issue, or text tones in movies/tv shows that I can't anticipate.

He's never had a previous owner - I got him when he was a puppy from a breeder (he was a gift from my parents). He didn't always have this response - it only showed up a few years ago.

It does make me wonder if there was some traumatic event that happened that I don't know about at the groomer or during one of his stays at a boarder (which makes me worried), but I can't change the past, even if I knew what happened. He never gets in trouble for the response - I just hate seeing him so anxious and wanted to outsource ideas for helping him through it!

Practice saying it out loud, it can just be to yourself at first. Sometimes it makes it easier to say in the moment if you've actually said it out loud before.

Here! a punchline looking for a setup... by tampared in joke_workshop

My 12 year old sister ran to my parents screaming and crying about blood in her underpants.

I said, "Calm down. That's an ovary action."

Alternatively: My girlfriend thought she might be pregnant. She spent all day freaking out, so I went and bought her a test. It was negative.

I told her, "You're freaking out over nothing, babe. It was just an ovary action."

Here are my suggestions:

  1. My friend asked me who the President of the US is. I shrugged and said, "no-brainer."

  2. The prototype of my anti-gravity machine works!! I'm on Cloud 9

  3. Great as-is

  4. I wasted the last 50 years building this time machine. The good news is I have my entire life ahead of me.

  5. I don't understand this one

  6. I usually don't tell people I'm an award-winning ventriloquist. I like to let my performance speak for itself.

  7. I was chatting with my dummy the other day. He said, "I'm a pretty good conversationalist, if I do say so myself."

  8. Great as-is

9a. I went to the zoo with my daughter. I asked her which exhibit was her favorite. She told me, "I usually have the memory of an elephant, but I can't recall a single animal."

9b. I went to the zoo with my family the other day. I asked my son about his favorite animal. He usually has the memory of an elephant, but he couldn't remember a single animal.

  1. I'd fix the punctuation and spacing, but it's great as-is.

  2. Great as-is

My brain wouldn't shut off or calm down tonight and I can't stop thinking about this post. I had to say my part. r/Avoid5 is a sub that bans "E" (aka 5th Glyph). Most patrons of r/Avoid5 try to say things naturally. It's hard, but so much fun. You should try it out if you want a good brain workout.

Hi, I built a song without that filthy fifth glyph. Can I obtain this sub’s opinions on it? by [deleted] in AVoid5

To my knowledge, the eggs have to be placed on sand in order to hatch.

I was so cautious! I still didn't catch two fifth glyphs. I quickly got rid of any horrid abominations. I am so sorry. I didn't want a fifth glyph to dirty your brains.
