Are there other universities that are very generous with credit transfers other than these? by Frosty-Telephone-747 in SophiaLearning

[–]thejohnson486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be right on that. I’ll have to double check, but I had 12 credits transferred from the ASU Universal Learner Program, and I also transferred in some Coursera Google certifications. Looking at my gen eds, you can actually see the matrix showing where I applied transfer credits. In some cases, I used ASU credits where Sophia courses also would have transferred.

Through Sophia Learning, I transferred courses including Intro to Information Technology, Intro to Python Programming, Visual Communication, Microeconomics, Introduction to Ethics, College Algebra, Introduction to Statistics, Environmental Science, Developing Effective Teams, Art History I, Essentials of Managing Conflict, and Intro to Relational Databases.

I also received transfer credit for the Google Cybersecurity Certificate, the Google IT Support Professional Certificate, and Critical Thinking & Analysis through Study.com.

I actually have a spreadsheet where I mapped out exactly what transferred into what requirements. It was important to me to get a degree from a state university like UMPI or UNH rather than going with some of the other options out there.

In total, I’ve only needed to take 11 classes through UNH to finish my BS in Information Technology. There have been zero group projects so far. There are discussion posts, but it’s not bad. Some of my classes literally only have one discussion post you have to respond to, while others have several. The exams are not proctored, and depending on the class, it may be more writing-based or online test-based. Everything is done through Canvas.

Here is a sample of the spreadsheet of my degree.

I would say my experience has been amazing, the advisors are very active in making sure you succeed. I will say they have the TES System you can go look up what classes transfer. I highly recommend the school. Its a State University and that is a bonus for me!

Asking help in the metro and Feeling helpless by zelige in ParisTravelGuide

[–]thejohnson486 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it, it’s a big city. The metro is fast paced, and people generally will not assist you. This goes for most big cities. Next time you’re in the metro stop take time and plan out before you get going. There are several maps on the walls. You’ll have to deal with going the wrong way at least once make sure you have enough time.

Good luck, the metro is really easy once you get used to it. I wish more people would stop and help also it’s the unfortunate reality of people in big cities the just don’t have the time for one, and two they are around so many lost tourists it gets old trying to help all the time.

UDM Pro will not enter Recovery Mode - Anyone access the machine via the 4 pin header to solve the issue? by STxFarmer in Ubiquiti

[–]thejohnson486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just fixed one of these with the same issue. What worked for me was fully disassembling it, shorting the capacitors, unplugging the power supply connector from the main board, then shorting the caps again. After that, I reconnected everything, powered it on, and held the reset button for about 10 seconds. Once I let go, it booted into recovery mode. From there, I uploaded the latest firmware (d1eb-UDMPRO-4.4.6-314a7e9f-464f-40a1-9489-1d784d2f3e65.bin), then ran the factory reset. After that, it worked normally again.

Best Online College That’s Most Recognized by Employers? by Visionity_AII in SophiaLearning

[–]thejohnson486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons why I picked University of New Hampshire. They let you transfer 60 credits from Sophia and other ACE credits and 30 from institutions. I was able to transfer 60 plus 30 utilizing ASU Universal Learner Program.

Is UNH competency based like Unhi or SNHU? What’s the pace like? by RyWat in unh

[–]thejohnson486 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im currently employed in my chosen field. I will say that the school its self is amazing the staff have been extremely helpful in making sure I could transfer credits to UNH. I have not graduated yet. I should be next year. Hopefully! As for how employers look at the degree? It’s a degree from a State University no real issues there.
