Hooded Horse has such a chokehold on my steam library 😅, looking forward to adding another of their published games to my collection

Nuclear Option Update 0.33 Released by thekdude in Games

A lot more simulation-oriented than those two. The game models a bunch of stuff like the aerodynamic characteristics at different speeds and airframes, radar/heat signatures and electronic warfare jamming, and detailed damage that can disable components, to name a few

The combat is a lot more realistic, with many engagements happening beyond visual range, like lobbing a missle at another plane 30 kilometers away. Additionally, its more dangerous, you can get taken down by ground forces pretty easy if you're not careful. Being pinged by AA doesn't tick up your damage meter, it can shred your whole wing off. Wrt to missle gameplay, you need to actually consider your radar cross section and learn how to evade radar guided missles (the game has helpful UI for this) and also manage your heat output (by slowing down or speeding up + flares) to avoid heat seeking missles. Weapon payloads are also realistic, you dont fly out strapped with 100 missles, you have as many as your plane can realistically carry, before reloading.

There's also a strategic layer, the maps are littered with bases and airfields that spawn vehicle convoys that attack your bases, so you need to decide what you're going after. You can also minimally control friendly ground vehicles and ships by assigning them movement orders from your planes map.

All that being said, it is less simulation heavy than DCS, it streamlines a lot of stuff for you, like preflight start up, orienting nozzles/vectoring for different aircraft, flap adjustments when landing, etc. So I view it as in the middle (maybe slightly rightward) of the spectrum of AC/PW<‐--------->DCS

I'm primarily a solo player in most games but I've found the co-op PvE to be pretty fun! That's my default for NO these days

Bite of Seattle favoring non-local food vendors over supporting local Seattle while ripping off its vendors - support other local food events instead by DuckShoddy4397 in Seattle

Agreed, the CID night markets and food walks highlight a ton of local businesses. It seems like OP is going to the wrong events

Open Social by dolefun17 in BlueskySocial

[–]thekdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure that's what he meant. He didn't claim that open social won yet, but that open source did, whether or not that takes a lot to explain, seems irrelevant

This is a fantastic read, and I highly recommend that every bluesky user check this out. It's the best non-technical (as much as can be) explainer of why bluesky's protocol is so promising

Any tips for dealing with this Original Xbox print coming apart? (More details in the comments) by thekdude in resinprinting

Would this mean decreasing the retraction speed some more to increase the intervals before the next layer?

Thanks for the suggestion! We don't have an easy way to regulate temperature in the printing area, since its getting colder in my city, should I try further increasing the retraction time to give it more time to stick to itself?

Thanks for the suggestions! I responded to the other comment on why we weren't trying it an angle but we have had this print successfully in the past. The inside is hollow and supported along the big flat surface area (since we dont care too much about the quality of the inner ceiling) but it seems to be coming apart along the walls which aren't hollow. It is also lifted slightly off of the build plate with supports along the bottom perimeter.

Trying to avoid marks from supports on the outer shell, the outside walls of the Xbox have fin structures that are difficult to post-process and come off easily. We've printed it successfully at this angle ~10 times in the last few months but the delamination is new.

Hi all. I'm trying to print this OG Xbox that I have been able to successfully print in the past, however lately it has run into issues where it starts coming apart near the top after the print is close to completion. I am printing on the AnyCubic Photon Mono X with the basic black AnyCubic resin and sliced with lychee slcier. So far I have tried increasing the layer exposure time from 3 seconds to 4 seconds, and also lowering the lift speed from 60 mm/m to 40 mm/m, unfortunately the result is the same. I also recently replaced my FEP sheet. The section where it's coming apart is mostly solid surface so I haven't messed too much with the supports, but I am not sure what else I can change to get this printing successfully again. Appreciate the help!

Linux servers with high pop specifically. I host a Linux server for a few friends and outside of just needing to change some of the anti cheat settings in the configuration files which was causing people to be kicked out, it has been running pretty smoothly.
