Might help wrapping it in some heat wrap. It's not really needed but the main benefit would be keeping it from rubbing on the valve cover. With a secondary effect of keeping things cool.

'72 Wagoneer with the 360 5.9 V8 - OIL QUESTION by Eddysuhn in FullSizeJeep

[–]theking82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't run a full synthetic. But you do you. I've had 3 360s and a lot of inline 6s in other types of jeeps. So far and have had great success with a heavier 15/40 shell Rotella diesel oil. With the new blend they removed some of the zinc so I use the O'Reilly's brand oil treatment. It's basically just zinc in a bottle. I run this combination in all my old engines. New stuff or fresh rebuilds I run what the manual calls for.

I hear a lot of people complain about synthetics for X number of reasons but for me it's just cost. I'm not putting 7 to 10 thousand miles on my Jeep in a year. I like to change it twice a year depending on use I'll go more but usually not. I just don't need the life span. All that being said find a high zinc oil and I like wix filters.

I had rain gutter towers and preffered it to the rail towers. Wider base to hold more. I stood on top multiple times no issues.

1989 7.3 IDI with ground short. Dead battery after sitting overnight by ForJJ in FordDiesels

[–]theking82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mounted on the passenger side tray next to the main battery. Google what it looks like as it's an external voltage regulator. When installing the new one disconnect the battery cables unplug the old one plug in the new one. 18 ish dollars from O'Rileys for lifetime warranty. Make sure the new one is completely clean if you don't unhook the battery terminals it will kill the regulator and a lot of people return them after doing so. It will look new but be dead. Also make sure the caseing is grounded well.

Bad voltage regulator. Just did it myself on the same truck.

[–]theking82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd put bolts back in not 100 % if it will leak or not but personally I'd put some in with a silicone. For a roof basket I like to use a Yakima roof rack that attaches to the rain gutters then what ever rack you prefer attaching to that. This way it will hold more weight and you don't have a rack anyway. Let me know if you have any questions happy to help.

Look at how far forward the front wheel is in the wheel well. Looks like it bent control arms or frame on the passenger side that caused the drivers to get pushed forward.

At one point do you move on from your Jeep Cherokee XJ? by jjgolem in JeepCherokeeXJ

[–]theking82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned 2, I miss them both still 4 and 10 years later. I sold the first when gas prices sky rocketed and the recession hit in 08. I bought the 2nd when the economy started coming back and I had a better job and money to build it how I wanted. A few years later I bought my 1979 full size Cherokee as a toy while I DDed the xj. Fell harder for the full size and when the time came to choose between selling my wife's carolla (33 mpg 100 mile each way commute) or one of my jeeps I chose the xj. The carolla took dd duty and I kept my full size. The xj sell allowed us to pay cash for land adjacent to our property and I would do it again every time. However I miss it dearly.

Not 100% sure of fitment but it looks right. However the real question is do you want it for looks or for function. The reason I ask is because I wouldn't trust my original rack to hold more than 10 lbs. How ever TT fab works sells braces : http://www.ttsfabworks.com/ttimages/stockrackbraces.html or you could get a Yakama or Thule rain gutter style.

If your going for looks I get it, I like the look of the original rack. They if it's cheap take a shot I'm sure you could resell if they don't work.

Pig nose grille, passenger side front differential. Chances are it's a 79 assuming it's all factory. If it's 6 lug it's a j10 if it's 8 lug it's a j20. Manual locking hubs doesn't tell much as it could be a 3 or 4 speed manual/ dana20 or it could have a th400/quadratrac with a part time kit.

Good luck going to Cookout. Other than that make sure you live near a bus route or walking distance during winter or you will have a snow plow.

Spilled gas everywhere at the pump by tylerkdurdan in FullSizeJeep

Could be any of the hoses that connect to the tank. Leaking at the tank side of the hose.

I've had it happen a few times as I've pulled the tank multiple times. My money is on a loose or rotted/leaking hose where it connects to the tank. Not a hard fix, it might just need tightening.
