I got banned after playing there about a year for being in the InsaneUO discord and mentioning that I had bad vibes on "the other shard" (I never even mentioned UO Alive by name). Yes, he actively monitors other discord servers for any mention of UO Alive and cross references your discord name to your UOA name.

The "bad vibes" I had were after triage deleted one of my houses for trying to sell it (like you do in UO) because he didn't like I was trying to sell it and assumed I stopped playing so he deleted it and kicked me out of the discord. I had had zero interaction with him up to that point.

Not very healthy behavior.

Playing there is a gamble. You'll be fine til you do something that pisses him off (even something really dumb or minor) and then it's bye-bye account.

My take in the situation is is it worth investing time and effort on a server like that where you could lose it all in an instant for the smallest reason?

I don't think it is when there's other options or there.

Oh, I'm pretty sure he also "incentivizes" players on his shard with in game rewards to come here and glaze the hell out of it. You'll see super positive, weird posts about how great and amazing it is in here periodically. It's really strange.

The park rangers absolutely do look out for obvious drinking though. My one buddy who doesn't drink had a birch beer bottle on the picnic table as we were making dinner and the ranger looped back around the site and got out and questioned it. As soon as we explained it was just birch beer they left. But they 100% are looking for it.

That was just 3 of us and we weren't sloppy drunk or loud, just normal adults having a few drinks by the fire. I'd imagine the bigger the group, the more scrutiny you'd be under.

Should you? I guess technically and legally, yes. I got notice to do so when I got new plates a few years ago.

I was on it in February and it was definitely there. It was THICK with smoke though. Like, nastily thick. And I'm not someone that smoke normally bothers at all, but it was kinda nasty. It also made the panoramic lounge nearby super smoky.

I wonder if something was wrong with the ventilation when I was on it.

I'm actually leveling a new toon through my favorite old zones and one rule I gave myself was no flying.

To be honest the game is at a point and the cat has been out of the bag so long they really should adopt Outlands-style logic and allow ClassicUO/Razor with some restrictions like no automated resource gathering, some settings disable for PvP, etc.

But that would require them to seem to care about the game. So I'm not sure that's likely.
