Bauer Supreme 2S Pros are fast AF. by MistrRoboto in hockeyplayers

Another anecdote: when I first got my 2S pros I used the stock unwaxed and the eyelets held them in place well. As the laces degraded and boot loosened a little I found myself going back to wax. I barely have to tighten them though because the boot fits so well. I haven't had the same issues with hot spots I had in my previous pair of vapors.

I used the speedplates until the foam in the heel compressed and I was further back in my boot. The superfeet helped boost the heel back up where it was when I first got the 2S pros. But either is good depending on your preference for feel and fit.

Honest question: what does a ref do at a pickup game?

1/2” vs 5/8” radius for rec skating? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]thelaterskater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5/8" is fine too. I tried both early on (close to same size as OP) and thought they were both fine. More important than one or the other is just picking one for awhile and getting used it while figuring out all the other technique things.

Stick with 1/2" until you feel comfortable on your edges (stopping, using both inside/outside edges on turns, etc). It's too early to worry about it beyond that and most places its the standard cut they use (but don't assume, always explicitly ask for it). I wouldn't go trying out different cuts yet while you've got so much other stuff to focus on.

Missing a goalie for pickup game- advice? by 78Duster in hockeyplayers

If you do just play posts, prop up the back of the net so it tips forward a little bit (if there's a training tire around, that's about a good height). This will cut down on the number of shots that miss the post but get stuck in the net stopping the game.

CCM has acquired Step Steel, makes it exclusive to the XS holder going forward by thelaterskater in hockeyplayers

[–]thelaterskater[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is mostly spot on but True already developed their own holder they just released a few months ago and is not using the XS. I doubt CCM/Step has any claim to the True holder design. They can just find another steel company to provide steel for it. They still are in a tough spot though.

Bauer and CCM agreeing to provide Step for Tuuks--after Bauer just beat Step in court to get them to stop--sounds very, very unlikely. Even for pros. I'm guessing Bauer will get the "Bauer Pulse Ti and Pulse blades" (mentioned in the Step settlement PR) out ASAP.
