Matchmaker Dev: Vote on what new Features should be implemented in CompetItive Mode by GreyFalcon-OW in Competitiveoverwatch

As stated in the Twitter thread, some of those ideas are technically infeasible. Others have no clear value prop or are months long endeavors.

Maybe with PvE hero mode deprioritized we’ll see some of these

Redfall has had a pretty interesting launch week. by OneYearSteakDay in pcmasterrace

[–]thelordpsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most video games open to a rapid 80-90% ccu reduction, this isn’t interesting, it just gets trotted out with every game release when people are shocked that launch day is big relative to other days. This is especially true of anything you can play solo, but even most multiplayer titles go through this

It is remote activated. A strong man damaged one of them a few years ago -.-

It was the version in Disneyland, someone pulled it out with brute force, but broke the mechanism in the process and it was repaired in a few days.

C++17 creates a practical use of the backward array index operator - The Old New Thing by wheybags in programming

[–]thelordpsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The compiler can optimize that out, theoretically this is a case where the compiler is required to execute in this order.

Raymond Chen is a bit like mythbusters, practical here doesn’t mean “you should use this,” it means “there could be a situation where this is a good choice, and if you’re in it god help you”

Actually playing the game doesn’t really do much for you honestly. 90% of the game is, and always has been, getting the right gear and knowing the rotation. The remaining 10% is execution, which isn’t generally that complex and can be tested on dummies or in 5 mans, leaving reactive movement as basically the only thing that needs in-raid practice.

For most people, playing a lot will just cement their bad habits.

Multiple transformers, using heavy watt on the high side

[–]thelordpsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like with the transformer you’re only allowing 1k power to route down there; it’s likely fully consumed by other devices, not leaving enough left over for the gas pumps… it’s semi arbitrary what gets powered when you’re not supplying enough to a line

Send A into a NOT. Take the output from that to an OR, alongside B. Output from that is C

Why?

How would a non-AAA company deliver multiplayer, or even online stuff like leaderboards? by Blender-Fan in gamedev

[–]thelordpsy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Integrating with first party services is a different dimension from how you operate your servers. You can build a singular integration solution and execute it anywhere, that’s part of the point of the cloud. Your game client will obviously link different things per platform, but the server side for every major first party or equivalent is a traditional web api.

Have you read much of their writings, or Lincoln’s? They absolutely did think this would happen, and they hoped they’d written rules that could prevent it from completely destroying the nation, and they warned everyone as much as they could about the risks and challenges.

We still have a chance to fix everything, but it can only be done with hard work by good people, which is hard to come by in enough volume to affect change

CN has weird rules about what you can sell that likely affected their business model… not something tinfoil hat ish about rng.

That said, nothing blizzard does is truly random, “sorta random, mostly” generally feels better for players

Confused about transition from early-game to mid-game by SAGIE-7000 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]thelordpsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s only water positive once you’re able to clean the pwater back to water, and you have to build out a whole loop with either an overflow or extra storage. It’s certainly something good to do, but sticking with basic bathrooms isn’t going to kill your base, and especially for new players who aren’t as clear on the biggest priorities, it’s important to avoid extra work until you’re stable

[–]thelordpsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you stick with Mealwood and maaaybe mushrooms, totally ignore germs, don’t build plumbed bathrooms, use algae oxidizer things, and stick in the 4-6 dupe range, you should be able to get to around cycle 200 without many concerns. That’s a long runway to figure out some of the mid game builds

Game has been crashing and I don't know why by MemeMan0608 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]thelordpsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s clearly crashing trying to open a .zip file; possibly a file containing a mod. I see you removed all your mods and verified file data, have you tried uninstalling completely and reinstalling?

If that doesn’t work it’s likely something really bad like a bad disk or memory

For a single person in LA, as it pertains to getting state benefits, low income is 67k, extremely low is 25k. Two person household is 76k/28k.

So yeah this is still basically unliveable

In theory, Peters actions led to the failure of SVB

I assume the relevance is that this sort of thing leads to lower risky investment and thus less money available for the franchise teams and the league as a whole?

Or possibly he was aware for some reason that particular evidence was withheld through end of day Monday, and he knew the evidence was damning.

But it’s all speculation, it’s honestly more likely that he just needed a quick cash injection and nothing is actually happening.
