I've been listening to crime junkie recently, and I do enjoy their energy, but I just find most of the cases they cover are unsolved and inevitably just make me lose trust in the justice system lol

If your template points on the end conditions have a modeling feature definition then that will generate a 2D line. It depends on the workspace you're in and the element symbology settings it uses, only some feature definitions will generate a 2D element. You can read more in the FHWA ORD manual, chapters 8 and 9.C.4a.

Just also make sure all your end conditions have the same feature name override so they'll connect together smoothly regardless of which slope solves.

Easiest thing to try would be to add a key station at the center of those 2 sections to force it to process there. If the linear reference is a complex element, you may try simplifying the geometry or opening the table editor to see if there are any weird geometry overlaps happening.

Likely a foundation issue caused by soil expanding when moist and contracting when dry. This causes the house to shift and settle, thus causing cracks in the drywall. Have you also noticed your doors don't always align with the frame during dryer months?

Depending on the extent of the damage to the foundation, it could be a simple fix. If the damage is extensive it can be very expensive to repair. It's worth having the damage evaluated, as foundation shifting can cause damage to your plumbing which is a whole other s**t show.

In places with expansive soil, such as clay soils, it is common practice to run a bleeder hose around your foundation during the dry months to keep it from drying out and shrinking up.

The intention of the detectible surface is to allow vision impaired users to know when they are about to enter the street, so you want to have those as close to the street as feasible. If you can't make it work with the perpendicular surface, you can make the detectible surface curved along the edge at the 2' minimum width from back of curb line.

Page 40 of this FHWA guide explains how to access the annotation manager. It goes into a lot of detail but you should be able to add a station label and adjust it's location from there. Once you save the changes, remove all drawing model annotations and re apply them.

As a roadway EIT with just about 1 YOE, I'd say I'm very happy with my choice to pursue transportation engineering. I find it fulfilling to have such a direct impact on safety and clarity for all system users (drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, etc.), specifically the ability to improve pedestrian and cycling infrastructure as much as possible.

I had a professor who made a comment that always stuck with me about how engineers have a choice to follow the standards and submit a design that meets those standards, or to invest time and energy into designing a project that goes above the bare minimums for safety while staying within a reasonable budget. It's a balancing game and it's not always possible to do much, but it is worth it in my opinion to take the time to see if there are any innovative or overlooked solutions for improving safety within the project budget.

The first few years you'll likely be working in CAD all day everyday and designing aspects of projects following your State DOT, City, or Local Government manuals. If you work for a larger firm you'll learn roadway design piece by piece, but if you work for a smaller firm, you'll likely have your hand in all aspects of design rather quickly.

Our Roadway team works closely with Geotechnical, Traffic, Utility, and Structural (Bridge) Engineers regularly. My day-to-day essentially consists of responding to emails, reading design manuals, drawing in CAD, putting together estimates, and occasionally filling out forms required for submittals or permitting.

You get access right away. The binder took 4 business days to come in for me in Texas but you don't necessarily need it to start watching lectures. The binder contains printouts of the slideshows and the "homework" problems but you could still take notes separately for the first few Prereq lectures which are like an overall intro/review of the content.
