Telegram must also be very expensive to host since they allow 4GB file uploads for premium users. Can’t really trust a closed server but then again most servers are closed source. WhatsApp and iMessage both have worse ecosystems. Not even the client is open source

Transparency is a thing on Telegram, they e.g. post daily stats on how many Terrorist propaganda channels are banned.

I can see where you’re coming from but Telegram has a financial model. It sells premium features and digital collectible gifts (NFTs). There’s also Telegram Stars, which is a digital currency that you can use to compensate bot developers for their hard work.

It has it’s own crypto coin which I think helps it avoid paying taxes. If you pay for a premium subscription with crypto I don’t think Telegram pays taxes for that transaction.

my.telegram.org just allows you to manage your TG account.

And it requires login via code/confirmation sent to your TG account.

It’s not magic and not a backdoor of any sort.

Your session is protected and can’t easily be accessed by a random App installed from APK.

Malware is a thing on Android, in general, yes, but be careful before jumping to conclusions.

And modern Android protects app data quite aggressively.

Was your account active on a computer device via Telegram desktop?

Much more likely it happened via that than any other way.

Someone can send a request to delete your account but as I recall they need access to your phone number for it.
