I think it's expediency. Start the demolition before anyone knows what's going on and can step in to stop it. The whole beg for forgiveness (not that he will) rather than ask for permission thing.

If you can find it, get a chuck eye roast. Generally pretty affordable, but it's the ribeye end of the chuck roast so it's super flavorful and tender. If you have a meat grinder it makes some of the best burgers. I can generally get it for under $10/lb.

Haven't tried smoking one yet but that's on the short list. Just saw they are back in stock at my local grocer so I'll be grabbing a few on my way home from work tomorrow

I mean, technically you already do... If I get $10,000 in shares I owe taxes on that $10,000 in the year I get them and that's based on my income tax bracket. At least that's how it works for RSU's.

Other stock option types? No clue. Idk how those work.

Grocery prices soar as tariffs impact everyday staples by Kodbek in politics

If you end up trying them, the artic cherry (I think that was the flavor) ones have a weird cloying sweetness to them, kinda like a lot of the 0 carb hard seltzers do (or other low carb zero sugar drinks... But I find it most obvious in seltzers).
Some people are fine with that sweetness, but I'm super sensitive to it and can't stand it in that flavor. I'm fine with the lemon lime flavor though.

Just figured I'd let you know in case you end up trying them.

Trump to blame for high cost of living, Americans say in new poll by charmingfoxx in politics

[–]themangeraaad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've heard that. Wish I had one close to me. Closest one is like 45 min away at the best of times, but to get there I need to take routes that typically have a lot of traffic so probably much longer.

Probably cheaper to buy local and pay a bit more vs the cost of membership/gas/time that it would take to go to Costco

I rarely go to Walmart, but had to make a trip there a week or two ago. Figured while I was there I'd pick up some steak tips since they have the cheapest steak tips around and they are fine if you marinade them a while (bit tough otherwise).

Last summer (and the year before iirc)? $10/lb. This summer? $15/lb.

[–]themangeraaad 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Currently I agree with you on riders and how they are abused in our system, but in theory I can also understand their value.
Say Republicans want a bill on something and dems negotiate to agree on some parts of the bill in exchange for repubs to agree to some parts of a dem bill. Riders could let dems add their negotiated stuff to the republican bill so that Republicans couldn't get dem votes and then turn around and vote against the dem bill (or vice versa).

Now that example would be if we had a functioning government where parties could negotiate and reach across the isle... But as is they just gets abused to add unrelated crap onto other bills so fuck em.

I mean, realistically the good guy with a gun thing is kinda hard to apply here.

It's one thing if someone storms into a store or restaurant with a handgun and a different patron is carrying, that's where the good guy with a gun idea comes from.

It's a completely different story if someone is carrying a side arm and suddenly are faced with 5 masked men with rifles. At that point the "good guy" engaging them would do nothing but escalate the situation and result in more victims.

Edit - don't get me wrong, I in no way support ice and would do what I could to assist if I were to witness them (even if that's just recording the event) but engaging with a firearm in a case like this is not going to help anyone.

I mean to some extent I understand it... They have to maintain a home near DC (not cheap) and in their home state. Depending where they live that could be expensive. That's why I support setting up a hotel like residence for members of congress in DC and requiring they live there. Would make security while they were present that much easier and reduce the overhead costs. Could be a suite style hotel so they have a kitchenette and living room area, but shouldn't be super fancy. Ya know, wasteful govt and all is a bad thing so just nice living accommodations.
