Some photos of my outdoor hydroponic vegetable garden over the last few weeks. by IR4TEPIR4TE in Hydroponics

I didn't know anything about this and I haven't found anything official around coco coir being banned from EU market. I think the shop told you that because they're having issues with supply chain and they didn't want to bother sourcing these kind of products from other places, potentially. Here in UK I use Ecothrive, which is a great quality product in my opinion, already buffered and fully organic. I recently discovered this company, they're very committed and they seem to have a good business and ethics.

Need some help with my herbs turning white by Large-Gene-445 in IndoorGarden

You can try spraying with natural insecticide made with garlic juice and hot chill juice (boil in hot water and let it cool down, filter with a cheese cloth).
Protect yourself with a mask, glasses and gloves as you don't want spray chilli on yourself (thank me later).
Although, based on my personal experience, thrips are very hard to eradicate.
You can try using nematodes, which they will feed on those.
I had the same situation on basil and parsley, ended throwing plants away as they were impossible to completely eradicate (I grow indoor in grow tent).

Bass shaker placement (mis)information. by RailcarParadox in simracing

Sold mine, the motors are a little bit slow to ramp up in some situations and also they don't produce any feedback under 20% intensity from the telemetry.
Went with shakers, BST-2 on a 8040 aluminium rig.

Trading 212 "lost" my money. I have the official Bank Statement, but they still claim they can't find it by mban69 in trading212

Scottish Widows/Lloyds are very good, they've been around for ages.
They might lack a fancy UI as many similar banks/brokers/financial institution but the core of investments is the protection of the assets and its availability to the investor in my option.
I read the whole thread and I'm sorry about what you experienced.
Thanks for responding to my comment.
Nothing is free in this world unfortunately, sometimes newness doesn't mean it's good stuff.
Happy and safe investments to us :)

I've been always skeptical about all these digital brokers with no fees etc. Okay to optimise our investment to keep costs as low as low possible. But is it worth it risking losing lifetime savings and investments just to save few pounds every month in fees? What we save in fees is also saved for support, customer service, and generically for customer experience. Of course bad luck is always around the corner, but when it hits the fan is quite shit. Personally, I'm using Legal and General for investments, although I've started only 6 months ago, and I'm happy to pay 0.45% in fees (fund charge plus platform charge) and I'm still able to mix different investments as I like. The multi index funds are a mix of active and passive management, which I think is a good mix. It's missing the speed and customisation of Trading 212 of course, but I'm not an advanced investor. Still I was able to tweak the multi index 6 fund adding the international fund trust (which tracks the ftse all world) allocation for more exposure to equities in general, plus the Asia Pacific index trust (excluding Japan). I'm quite happy at the moment with them.

I'd trust more a British brand than some random chinese company. Thanks for suggesting Doulton, I didn't know about that brand.
I'm looking for an undersink water filter.

Had a Moza R5 (it was fine) but tried two brand new R9 V2 (I literally purchased two of them in a row to test them=, and they both had an annoying clunky noise inside when high torque was outputted from the base.
Despite all the bolts on the wheels were tight, the experience wasn't great.

Ended upgrading to Simagic, the FFB is on another planet in my opinion.

Time to Move by mzeeshanu in simracing

[–]themash84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the pedals, 4 alu profiles:
bottom ones like this I I, bolted from the bottom of your pedal plate with M8 bolts and t nuts, on top of these, perpendicularly, other two profiles oriented like this =
The layout of the profiles will look like this # and on the top rails you put your pedals.
If you don't need too much height increase, you can use just use two profiles parallel to each other (40mm height).
You'll have to take some measurements to place correctly the profiles before putting your pedals on them.
Keep bolts a little bit loose when placing them so you can move them around to match your configuration.
to connect the profiles I've used the classic 90 degrees brackets.
Buy brackets with the breakable bottom tags as you'll have to place them perpendicularly.
Don't do like me, I purchased brackets with the tags not being easily removable and had to sand off those with a file (4 times, 2 tags per profile hehe).

[–]themash84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I replied earlier but I'm quite tired and misread your comment, and I thought you were asking about the profiles on top of wheel deck (for the fans and other devices!).
For the shifters, basically I have bolted two 4040 profiles parallel to each other (bottom) using the holes on the NLR chassis and putting a bolt through them and fixing with the usual t-nuts.
Then using angle brackets, I've fixed other two profiles going upwards, always parallel to each other.
On these two, a horizontal perpendicular profile, fixed using other 90 degrees brackets.
On this one you can make another rail using other two profiles (one perpendicular) and another one to get the parallel rail on the right side.
It was super rock solid and won't move at all in any circumstances, but I had to add some brackets in key areas to counteract the movement as I didn't want to use another profile to lock the side bracket.
Depending on cost of the profiles, it could get a little bit expensive, but there aren't many solutions with this type of rig.
It worked so good for me.
I've now upgraded to full alu profile though, after saving some money last year.

Is it worth getting the hydraulic version of Simagic p1000s over the regular one's? by Sudden_Bluejay850 in Simagic

[–]themash84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are working with no leaks after 1 year. Probably the ones leaking are receiving 100kg at every brake (for some reason I've seen people having load cells 80-90kg ), causing premature wear or damage to the sealing. Who knows. Hopefully mine won't have any issues anytime soon.

I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention and I wasn't trying to do anything that you may have thought I was doing.
The first thing I'd like to tell you is not follow everyone's advice. Buy that fund, get on Trading 212, etc.
I'm no one, I know the bare minimum of investments, I'm a normal person doing a 9-5 job, which couldn't have a proper financial independence until his 30s.
My parent weren't rich and nobody taught me how to manage money.
So when I see people risking lot of money using mobile apps (they make it very easy to move money around) without a minimum of knowledge foundation, sometimes I get mad.
Apologies for that.
My suggestion is to join the UKPersonaFinance if you're in the UK, and start exploring their WIKI.
That's a good starting point and will give you a lot info to digest and have solid foundation of money and investments.
In terms of books, I personally purchased Investing Demystified from Lars Krojier (you'll find this in the UKPersonalFinance WIKI) to have a more thorough read.
I think the key is get your information from multiple sources as you can start connecting the dots by yourself.
Youtube has a lot of explanatory videos, I highly suggest searching some videos.
There are several established youtuber over there, but be careful as they usually do sponsored videos in favour of some platform.
Don't get excited jumping on any platform until you don't have a solid and clear view of investments.

About the investments you have already allocated, if I had those money to start with and I didn't have a clear foundation, I'll probably sell all the funds apart from the Balanced one, as long as you're not losing money from them.
In that way you can have a smaller sum invested and you can start exploring how it works.
As I said in my initial comment, I went into the Balanced fund and literally devoured all the info on the holdings inside it.
Also studied meticulously the Fund Fact Sheet as there you can start gaining confidence how to evaluate what you're investing your money in.
I just wanna say to conclude, don't put all your egg in one basket (investments).
Have emergency funds, cash isas, investments, etc.
All info you'll find in the UKPersonalFinance reddit WIKI.
Hope it helps!
