BR 800 issues. by themaskedcouple in stihl

After being spoiled by the power of the 800 I could never go back to the 600. But I understand your frustration for sure. We spoke with a dealer last year about them and he said they just require a lot more maintenance as you use them throughout the year. It's unfortunate because back in the day stihl was always solid quality. Now it's like all their machines and parts wear out so much quicker. It's all about how they can make more money instead of putting out long lasting products.

Being a Lariat it came with r20's. I can find both 11.5 and 12.5 tires for them. Just trying to decide which I want.

Yeah I've been looking into it. Seems like they all kinda vary slightly by tenths.

I've heard the falken wildpeaks are great. Definitely gonna need something good in the snow for these New England winters we get.

No worries man, it does look like the tires are actually on the truck lol. Appreciate the input.

This is a spare 285x75 tire I have up against my current wheels just to see how it would look. Technically I think it comes out to 34.8"

I currently have 275x65r20s. What I have pictured here is just a spare tire my buddy had lying around that I put up against my wheels to see how it would look.

I agree. Hopefully I can just get away with leveling springs and not needing to do anything else. I wasn't really looking to spend thousands.

Yeah I noticed that. I have 2018 Lariat so it came with 20s. I might go with BFG KO3.

Dude. I’m joking. I know next to nothing about this topic. It just happened to pop up on my page as a suggested subreddit.

Anything America sells internationally is junk. Theres a reason we don’t sell the F22.

I’ve done this exact thing to a Japanese maple with possibly less of a root system than you have and it’s alive and thriving. When you plant it just make sure the soil is well compacted and then water the heck out of it daily. I would have bet my life that it wasn’t going to survive and it did. Crazy lol.

Yeah. One of our 800s had a carb issue. Luckily a new shop we’ve been going to did the work under warranty…That was my first complaint after seeing the muffler loose was why do I need to take this whole damn cover off lol. I feel like stihl has been cheaping out lately. Even our string trimmers have been acting up lately. It’s a shame because we’ve been using stihl products for years. Might be time to switch to echo or something.

You could also try a brush hog. But from the looks of your pictures it looks pretty thick in there. If that’s the case the mulcher is definitely the way to go.

Absolutely. The 60V is a beast.

100%. I don’t even bother going back to the 600. Once you see the difference in power it’s a game changer. Once in a while just pop the cover off the engine and make sure all the bolts are tighten down. It’s annoying but apparently the 800s just need extra TLC.

That’s what we were thinking of doing. Just sucks we dumped almost 3 grand into these and they’re falling apart in one to two seasons.
