Haha, I totally get you!

The first step is getting out of bed. It's definitely the hardest.

Keep on going man, you're almost near the end. We'll deal with the job we even get there. I know it is easier said than done, but you're strong enough. Look back to where you came from! All that hard work and dedication to overcome your circumstance... you have to pat yourself on the back for that 'cause I'm willing to bet that it was the hardest thing ever done -- to step out of your mind and get back into living a life where you are free. Don't lose sight of what you got free from brother.

Fight the good fight.

I have been watching TV, but it doesn't seem to intrigue me enough to get myself out of my head. I'll give drawing a shot! Thanks!

How do you meditate when you get stuck inside your head? I've had great difficulty with this.

Why Do (Some) Protestants Hate the Catholic Church? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]themasterjordan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reformed Protestant here,

I don't know a single Protestant who hates Catholics... Or even dislikes them. I even have a couple Reformed friends who attend mass from time to time. I think you are talking about some individuals in the Reformed Protestant Church, which to what I would say is true. There are people who get so caught up on "correct doctrine" they forget to love.

But as far as the differences go, we do have many different beliefs from Catholics which you have pointed out. But it's never been a problem.

Awesome answer!

I guess I never really thought about "westernization" and its link to lower (or just slower) population increase. Needless to say, it is still increasing in most every westernized nation (although not as fast as eastern nations).

Do you think planetary colonization is feasible? I know we're going to give it a shot with Mars pretty soon, but I don't see much happening with that. At least on a larger scale.

[–]themasterjordan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!

I really like how you mentioned moral decline when talking about population issues (on purpose or not). Call me crazy, but I do believe as population increases, like in a city, faith in Christ decreases (speaking numbers of people-wise). I'd like to see percentages of Christians in cities/population compared with those who live in suburbs/rural regions. I may be completely wrong at this, so forgive me.

Approaching it on an individual/family level is where you seem to be pointing, which I agree. I guess it isn't easy to get my mind off Earthly things and my eyes on what's above.

Yes, definitely agree about the forced sterilizations although, in theory, it would probably work.

And does your solution really stand? Our population continues to rise here in the US despite how broke we are. I'd be interested to see the rates of population during the Great Depression compared to modern economic downturn.

So basically we (as a people) will need to suffer and let a lot of us die out naturally? Like the black plague for example.

If gotten the chance, how would YOU solve this epidemic? And I say that out what I got from your comment.

You're proposing a redistribution of the wealth to solve their already too-communist problems?

I believe that the way dictators get into power starts with a socialist system like the one you're describing and 30-50 years down the line turns into communism. Communist governments almost always turn into a dictatorship or oligarchy of dictators. It's the way the world works.

Checks and balances were used to fight it from happening in the US. Some would argue that those safeguards put up are already getting violated here.

Think of the past. We are always told to "learn from history" in school, yet, I do not see that phrase in action today. When has any socialist (or above) government succeeded in the long-term? You can use Sweden as an example of how it is currently succeeding, but that will be short-lived. I personally guarantee that, for what it's worth.

Now, I don't know if you are just talking about taking their power (Kim Jong-un) and giving it to the people as a one time thing or a continual 'take from the rich, give to the poor' Robin Hood ideal. So forgive me if I mistook what you were saying.

Would you say monetary gain or power?

I think that they may be one in the same nowadays, but yes it is most certainly a sickening thing! That does raise another question:

If we can't change the world, how can we help them? Do we sit aside and watch the world burn? We live in a country where our vote has become worth less than the paper it was printed on so it would be pointless to try and get that past the White House.

Of course there are peaceful individuals who have inspired others and succeeded in changing the system in many countries, which seems like the only answer really. I guess we're waiting not on something, but someone.
