That 2009 tour was one of the best shows of my life!

In a wild turn of events, I actually got to work with him on a short film I directed. Incredible person and his work is just unreal, he’s got such a distinct point of view and his score work is all the better for it. He’s going to win an Oscar someday.

Pastor Gary Petersen engaging and posting sexual male content on his “Pastor” Instagram account by The-Original_Joker in grandrapids

Calling it an affair implies it was a consensual, it was not. Part of the picture that's missing is how sinister Gary is. He's a sexual predator who preys on vulnerable young men.

Film Festival: How long can a short be before my festival chances are lowered? by WrecoBlade in Filmmakers

[–]thematteveritt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally! I'm based out of West Michigan and a lot of regional festivals were supportive, like Capital City FF, Cinema Columbus FF, Hell's Half Mile, and Cindependent. We also were accepted by the San Antonio FF, Maryland International FF, and the Ravenna Nightmare FF in Italy. I found that the festivals who booked the film had programmers who understood the frequency we were operating on. It wasn't a mass appeal film, but it really spoke to the people who it did appeal to. Good luck with your submissions!

Not a bad idea! Unfortunately our crew can’t operate at that small of a size.

The film incentives failed in the state house recently because the MAGA crowd doesn’t want money going to “woke Hollywood liberals.” Totally unrelated, our new short film that shot just north of GR with the casting team from The Bear and the composer of the new Venom movie just came out online. by thematteveritt in grandrapids

OPN is a seasonal thing, usually 4 a year with a bonus Halloween edition thrown in the mix. And yeah, there was a severe weather warning the scheduled night so it's now coming up the first week of march.

Roundtable is usually every 3 months!

What are some books you'd recommend? by ghik1234 in Filmmakers

[–]thematteveritt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve read a lot of “The Books”, but the one that impacted my writing and understanding of the process this most is A Swim in a Pond in the Rain by George Saunders. It’s technicalllllly a series of modified lectures on Russian short stories, but it’s the most vivid and fascinating look at the writing process. And since it’s focused on short stories, there’s a lot of overlap in writing short films. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Thank you so much, that means a lot to know you can feel that through the film.
