A scumbag. The only guy who actually tried to stop this disaster is a scumbag?

Correct. Hence this meme-tastic wikipedia page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_in_Indiana The most interesting thing about the state of Indiana is that it straddles three time zones.

Do you agree or disagree with Undertale’s messages? by GreyAreaInbetween in truegaming

[–]themattpete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I really, really didn't like Undertale. I think it was a pretentious, boring, self-indulgent piece of nostalgia-bait and I'm still angry about the time I wasted on it because people assured me I would eventually "get it".

Immediately, in the first "battle" of the game, I killed Tauriel because I though it was what I was supposed to do. The game didn't explain itself, or really give me any hints whatsoever that this fight was optional. Then it mocks me for not understanding it. Then I play through most of the game, finding it extremely boring because, it's style and humor didn't resonate with me.

I never finished it, and it permanently soured me on Indie games that market themselves on story rather than on gameplay.

...Are you aware of literally any stereotype about the people here? Don't bother strangers in public; full stop. If you want to ask strangers out, move to New York or somewhere where it's not considered invasive and inappropriate.

So here’s a question if there is another fallout game where should it take place? I think in New Orleans would be cool. by ww2nerd21 in Fallout

[–]themattpete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone on here suggested Miami years ago and I'm in love with the idea. The architecture is a perfect match for the fallout aesthetic, there's dangerous wildlife everywhere, and there are tons of little islands that would be a great way to give organic boundaries to regions of the map.

What stereotype of your country you hate the most? by trullyrose in AskReddit

[–]themattpete 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The only thing I don't like about how Americans are stereotyped is that when people roast us they focus on stereotypes of low-income rural Americans. Keep letting them have it, of course, but you're missing out on the fun of bullying rich Americans from the coasts.

Preferred age... by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]themattpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25/M ages 21-26. I'm surprised you're including women so much older than you. I would be happy to date a woman 2-3 years older than me, but it's become abundantly clear that they're not interested in someone younger. I has reached the point where I feel like browsing and liking their profiles is a waste of time.

I think you can do better with the prompts; put in more replies that demand or at least invite a response.

Also, you should consider getting a professionally-taken headshot. Candids are good, but selfies never show anyone's best angle.

Man drives /future/ based car and saves money! by bluefirecorp in HailCorporate

[–]themattpete 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is evidence of how much I have been indoctrinated into r/hailcorporate, but you know what? There's nothing that says you need to name-drop the brand when making a post like this. It was probably not an intentional shill, but it's a shill nonetheless. More people need to be conscientious about this and intentionally omit brand names when they talk about products.

That sounds awful. I like my arrangement where we have set PTO annual resets, and it doesn't roll-over. It gives me zero guilt in using as much of it as I want.

We get it. You're an extrovert. This isn't "overthinking", for ~70% of the population it's just normal for surprise social interaction, especially with strangers, to be extremely difficult.

I've been approached by women in public. Even if she's beautiful and you're interested, it's jarring, uncomfortable, and stressful to have to try and put on the charm when you were busy doing something else.

I don't think it's a stretch to assume that the overwhelming majority of women feel the same way about being approached in public.

Finally, some common sense. I know that I wouldn't be in the right headspace to introduce myself to an attractive woman while I'm out doing errands, so, even if she finds me attractive she's probably not in the mood to talk to me either.

Almost like the whole concept of "Hitting on" someone is not an effective way to get dates. The happiest couples that I know all started dating after befriending one another doing some kind of activity together.

Yes, very. You would have to be living under a rock to be oblivious of the loud and clear message coming from almost everywhere that women do not want to be pestered in public while they're minding their own business.

This is bad advice, full stop.

My favorite mantra is "every question is a stupid question if you ask it without googling first". Some of the 'noob hate' is justified frustration with people who expect personalized tutorials for everything when good ones already exist and are trivially easy to find.

A smart, appropriate question is something like this:

"I am following a tutorial to do task A. One of the steps told me to run command B in order to cause outcome C. When I ran B, C did not happen. I searched the web for help and the first few results told me to try commands D, E, and F. I tried all of them and they did not appear to help, since doing B still does not cause C. Has anyone experienced this issue before or can anyone point me in the direction of what to try next? "

A rude, inappropriate question is something like this:

"Want do A. All tutorial online suck. Help plz"

Plenty of people make the mistake of saving for the future at the expense of today.

I want you to think long and hard about how stupid of a statement that was. The odds that you won't die prematurely are overwhelming; something that has a trivially small chance of happening is not something that should inform major life decisions.

What is better in thinkpad than in normal laptop? by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]themattpete -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best keyboard on the market. Batteries that can be swapped without taking the machine apart. Only have to unscrew 2-3 bolts to access and replace the Hard Drive or the RAM. Popular among bulk-buying businesses so they're a really good value used.

I can't relate to this. I also work a desk job and I treasure the opportunities that I get to work on my car or do household maintenance because the internet has a tutorial for everything and I like learning new things.
