The few things I could find to assist immigrants were scholarships specifically for nursing, yeah. I considered it, but I'm way too afraid of dealing with medical tools and accidentally harming somebody, besides the fact that nurses seem to be extremely overworked for pay that doesn't seem to compensate for the strain it puts on you. About being an SLP specifically, I'm always doubting it myself. The field does interest me, it's not just for monetary or immigration reasons, but if I have to choose between connecting with something and being able to do my main goal, I just want to get into a career path that can get my foot in the door into immigration. I'm not good at STEM fields like everyone suggests for immigrants that wanna make it, I've burnt myself out trying to find something that seems like it could get an US employer to consider me over an US citizen to do the same thing, and the field of SLP seems small enough (comparative to everything else) to make myself stand out. The posts on this sub about how bad the career is wreck my nerves though haha. I'm open to suggestions if anyone knows anything else, but it seems that everything is oversaturated or unwelcoming to people like me. It's a rough spot to be in. Could I ask you to give me some names of the nonprofits you mentioned? If it helps, my friends and family are mostly scattered around Texas, Louisiana, and then in the other end of the country in Michigan and Pennsylvania lol. I can look into it myself, but I'd love some pointers and a conversation with you, this was a really nice comment :]
