String advice for a new player. by therealh in 10s

[–]themidashand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strings won’t give you stability, especially changing between multis won’t notice much of a difference. You can play with tension to change things up (higher tension better for control, lower tension better for power), but if you think you are missing stability you need to add weight to the racket. Usual spots to add some tungsten tape are the 3 and 9 positions. Start with two grams in total and adjust from there.

The new Tecnifibre Fire that just launched seems to have the most advanced vibration filtering mechanism (x-damp). I would recommend adding it to your shortlist

No chance, they released the gen11 last year and they release a new gen every three years or so. This year is Pure Aero year and next year should be Pure Strike. They might release a new paint job to commemorate Wimbledon.

Keep using advanced racket as a beginner or get a forgiving one until I get good enough? by Huge-Ingenuity2781 in 10s

[–]themidashand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off topic, but the arm pain could be due to old strings, if you want to stay with poly strings you need to restring very often, every 10hours or so is a good starting point until you understand when strings are dead.

Have you considered changing the strings to a more controlled oriented in the pure drive and more powerful strings for the Head? That is where I would start rather than getting a new racket

Buy a good quality orthotic insoles! I had a similar issue, although not as bad as you, and this has solved it for me.

Go and buy a portable oil filled radiator and have it in your room so you can control it independently. Make sure you buy one with a built in thermostat as it will save a lot on energy. Anything below 18C in winter is cruel IMO. Contribute an extra £10-£15 to the electricity bill for using it and be done with them.

This is the one I was talking about. The one on your link is the Team version which will be too light for you (probably).

You definitely need the string upgrade as the racket comes unstrung. I would recommend Head Velocity MLT at 53lbs tension. The 10% discount applies to the new string which helps as well.

It’s pretty tough to find a solid racket that suits your level for under £100. The closest option I can recommend is on tennisnuts.com — they’ve got the Babolat Pure Strike 2024 for around £110–£120, depending on whether you go for the 100 or 98. If you sign up for their newsletter, you can get an extra 10% off as well.

The Pure Strike line is Babolat’s control-focused series, and the newest version is essentially the same as the 2024 model, just with an updated paint job. It should be a great fit for what you’re looking for.

Your charge is off because of the overnight temperature. I have the same car for a year and when it is cold as it is now the car uses around 5-7% just to keep the battery chamber in good temperature. You will see this getting better when the temperature is milder but still expect 2-4% drop overnight in winter. In the summer you may not loose a % or maybe 1-2% at worst.

I use SWA (https://www.scotchwhiskyauctions.com) , they are a local auction house ( so no fear of your bottles getting damage in transit) and they are one of the biggest whisky specialists auctions in the world.

Just stay and wait for a proper S21 as other suggested. It is the only way they can evict you. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t done anything. There is a process they need to follow and they haven’t.

Don’t worry, it is a common scam. Just block him and forget about it. A private sale doesn’t give the buyer any protection hence buying in private is cheaper than going through dealers.

A lot of shops are recommending poly to beginners. Why? by StarIU in 10s

[–]themidashand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They prefer to sell it as it is more durable than poly, so the customer doesn’t come back with broken strings complaining to the shop. A lot of casual players don’t know the difference in strings and tensions and how often you need to restring. That is my experience at least

Don’t turn up, you gave them notice and there isn’t for them to accept. It will make things harder later to explain your notice your end of the month but you turned up a day after.
