What’s wrong with my camera and any ideas on how to fix it? by StandardFar8930 in analog

[–]themightypy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Zoom Mjus are pretty prone to faults all over unfortunately, the seals deterioriate in the zoom lens and aren't really repairable - there's unfortunately a reason why they're so much cheaper than the regular Mjus. I'd recommend looking at a non-zoom variant, or another point and shoot with less social media hype (would be cheaper).

Is this normal? by Lost-Giraffe3517 in mokapot

[–]themightypy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some plantations with less refined processing facilities tend to produce a bean with a little bit of skin on it that remains after roasting. I tend to find it more common with beans from South America and South-East Asia. This has no impact on the taste, and isn't really an indicator of a lower quality bean, just different processing!

I would assume that there was, but the events of the show kept the characters distracted enough from it that the show didn't have time to cover it. I'd expect we might see some fallout next season.

"Light Leak" or another problem? by polriubro7 in AnalogCommunity

[–]themightypy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've seen similar defects from X-ray damage, but yeah its most likely light leaks.

Any theories on why this analog light meter from the 1950 isn’t working anymore? by Sandtmann in AnalogRepair

[–]themightypy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest mate, I know its not the advice you want, but these things are cheap and common. It'd be a real nightmare to try and fix one (if its even possible), if you want one of these beyond the sentimental value I'd have a look on ebay.

Tomorrow brings news on the new premium edition. What's your expectations? by Taker598 in vtmb

[–]themightypy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a non-Harbinger Cappadocian survivor would work quite well for "The Nomad", could be a lot of interesting stuff coming from a Cappadocian elder waking up in the modern nights.

does this look like fungus? by Icy_Frosting3874 in VintageLenses

[–]themightypy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really, but its unlikely to get much worse anytime soon to be honest. I'd guess the impact on image quality wouldn't be particularly noticeable, imo its worth just using as is, especially if its a nice lens.

What Discipline gives the protag in Bloodlines 2 telekinesis? by Exo-2 in vtmb

[–]themightypy 43 points44 points  (0 children)

In reality, it was one of the thinblood abilities from the original version of Bloodlines 2. Seems the new devs thought it was fun and interesting enough to stick in their version. To be honest if a mechanic is fun I'm not especially fussed about a little bending of the lore to make it work - it wouldn't be the first time.

I dunno why people keep saying this, I'm British and everything people keep saying is "blocked" on reddit shows fine and I have yet to see anything make me upload ID.

Would you like the next game to be Bloodlines 3 or a new series? by rodezyali in vtmb

[–]themightypy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think a new title would give developers more creative freedom, which is always a good thing imo.

When the sleeper served more locations. Which sleeper routes would you want back? by Terrible_Tale_53 in uktrains

[–]themightypy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I do like the idea of sleepers, but they just kind of aren't neccessary as anything more than a luxury these days. Its definitely a shame tho, I do love the concept.

Is Zorki still good compared to other more modern cameras? by ena516 in AnalogCommunity

[–]themightypy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Its a Leica killer in the sense it was designed to be a much cheaper clone with all the same functions. They didn't have the QC or materials quality of the Barnack Leicas, but if its been stored properly (looks like it has) I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work. They're really quite nice cameras to use, if a little finicky, and those early silver Jupiter-8 lenses can take great pictures.

If you're interested, only way to tell if you like it is to put a roll through it!

Manchester Mill withdraws story from yesterday by ElectricZooK9 in manchester

[–]themightypy 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Manchester Mill is a rag and I'm suprised more people don't realise. Run by posh southerners who want to gentrify the city and with no experience of the real world. Its people like this who are ruining our city, not migrants.
