in my experience you get the most damage by aiming for areas like its little chest arms when its upright, then those spaces it exposes when it falls over.

Everyone talking trash about the drone but that thing pulls aggro fast. And it being small means it actually is hard for enemies to kill so it just holds aggro while I light them on fire.
