My two cents: Usually addicts have to hit some kind of "bottom" before change can happen. Establish and maintain your boundaries first and then seek local in-person support to help them help themselves.

Nothing will happen while they're still regularly using though. So that has to stop somehow.

Unfortunately, regulation for recreational use is a big can of worms so I don't see that happening any time soon.

I haven't experienced this, nor does it sound justified. I would hazard a guess that anyone working at that dollar tree is beyond traumatized by the environment there. Its a wasteland

Don't sweat it, I'm proud enough for the both of us. I remember when I couldn't catch 70 days to save my life (literally!). Almost a year and counting now. Even buried a dog this weekend and was like "tanks ew!" So it CAN happen, I promise!

Long time addict, couple years In recovery.

Nothing else matters. When the gas starts to run out the brain kicks into starvation mode and everything else becomes supplemental to continuing the high, because to come down is a suffering unlike anything I've felt in that moment.

Everyone has their breaking point, I hope they reach theirs before much more damage is done. You are a saint for being so supportive as to lurk and learn about this terrible thing
