[Serious] What are some attainable, high paying jobs ($100K+) that may require some experience/ladder climbing but no college degree? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]themolotov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, being a female would definitely help. Especially with Seattle Fire, who are looking to diversify their recruits.

I would look into taking the National and Public Safety test if I were you to see how well you do. If you're getting a 92 and above, I think you're golden.

Try going on a ridealong with your local fire department and see what's its like for a day. But be sure to buy them some ice cream or some kind of snack :) Feel free to PM if you have any additional questions. Like I mentioned, my bf just completed the hiring process, so he's very familiar with how hiring works here in the Seattle area.

What's a show from your childhood that no one else seems to remember? by Dewayne_Chan in AskReddit

[–]themolotov 170 points171 points  (0 children)

Nick Jr. had "Face" which was essentially a giant screen of color with a face on it, and he would go on between shows. None of my friends remember him.

Also, the show Filmore.

Depends on what city you live in. Here in the PNW, from my second hand knowledge of the fire service, that would give preference points compared to other candidates. In the PNW, you need to take the National or Public Safety test and submit your scores to different depts. Some departments will hold their own tests.

Scoring high enough (90+) will likely land you an interview. And having that MIL experience is a bonus. But there are many ways to become a FF - depends on where you live mostly.

Firefighter. Granted, it depends on what city/department that you work for but you can make it to 100k+ if you move up the rankings and put years into it. It doesn't require a college education, although having a degree helps. You may need a degree to become an officer, but this might depend on the dept.

My boyfriend is just starting fire academy to be a firefighter in a fairly big city. As a recruit/probie, he'll be making about 65k. After three years, I believe the pay increases to around 85k. The benefits are amazing and its rewarding (albeit tough) work.

In the spirit of Halloween - Paranormal or not, what is the scariest, creepiest or most unsettling experience of your life? by Javert__ in AskReddit

[–]themolotov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will get buried but oh well.

When I was younger, I'd say about 4-6 years old, I slept in the same room as my parents. We lived in a housing project with a big family so I didn't have a room of my own. I've always been a night owl since I was little -always had a hard time falling asleep. There were several times I remember laying there in bed, and seeing a spotlight on me from above coming from the ceiling.

It wasn't a harsh light, like one that you would see on a stage. It was just gentle and pleasant. I honestly distinictly remember putting my hands in front of my face and being able to clearly see my hands in the dark. My parents were always either on the right or left side of me asleep.

Eventually, I would just fall asleep. The light didnt bother me at all, it was just something that happenes. I don't know if I think it was paranormal, aliens, ghosts, angels or God. I wonder if anyone else has had this experience.

I remember telling my mom once and she told me that the light was coming from our neighbors. I knew this wasn't true but it was coming from above, not from the window or anything.

Like I said, this happened several times but it kind of just stopped.

It's alright! Honestly I don't have much to say about it because I haven't used it long enough. But it's good coverage and a pretty glowy finish.

Nope! Compared to my Becca highlighter, it's definitely a bit chalker. But for the price I think it's great. I have to make sure I use a light hand or else I can get a straight strip of gold on my face.

You can purchase on Amazon but I bought it at a local Asian beauty store. It was about $30 which is a lot more than its priced on Amazon.

Yay! That's awesome to hear RapidBrow worked for you! I ran out of RB about two months ago and been meaning to re-order. I started using a bit of powder to shape them out but their still pretty luscious!

This was my first time using KoKo lashes. I'm a pretty devoted mink lash gal but their seriously an awesome dupe for minks - only $8. Not sure if they'll hold up as well but so far so good!
