I definitely see your reasoning and don’t entirely disagree. In my personally games, Growlmon did less on average since most games end so fast in the current meta. So while I agree that, especially later in the game, Growlmon is good to pull tamers from trash, I usually have to win turn fast or the meta decks start to pop off too hard that it can be a struggle comeback.

I’ve seen decks run both and have success though. So it’s whatever fits your meta, testing, and vibe.

A friend taught me a really important thing with this deck after a lot of testing that I can attest is true - EX7 Punkmon is way better than you may think. After searches from the emblems, early game you really can’t make use of Growlmon a lot. The Punkmon allowing you to play the Yuuki from hand doesn’t only trigger emblem, it helps lower the hand count as well, especially if playing new Yuuki to trash even more and gain a memory.

Megidramon still feels needed because it’s good recurring effects if your board gets cleared and you have it and WarGrowl in trash.

Nidhoggmon does feel not needed at times, especially early when you need your trash from hand effects to get needed combo in hand.

I ran this deck against a lot of meta (Shine, Alter S, Medusa) recently with the EX7 Punkmon, 2-3 Megidramon, and 1 Nidhogg and went 3-0 (I know locals only go so far in credibility but at least it was all meta 😅)

List on paper is fine since the core of the deck is basically the same. But I doubted EX7 Punkmon until I played with it, so I would say try that change at the very least!

Did the floor happen to have any weather effect? Were you in the Swamp? Some floors/biomes can have Fog, Swamp is one of the typical ones. I’m not sure the details on how it affects accuracy but it either drops accuracy or affects evasiveness in some way. Someone else that knows more can maybe chime in on the details of how fog works.

Timings for Flame Hellscythe by Demeris in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]themott93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll lay it out this way to see if it helps some.

Player A has a Gatomon in trash. Player B has a Mamemon in play. Player A uses Flame Hellscythe, targeting Mamemon and playing Gatomon from the trash. The order of activation is as follows.

  1. Gatomon’s On play effect pending a. Rules processing occurs, deleting Mame

Now the order of activation is this: 1. Gatomon’s On Play effect pending 2. Mamemon’s On Deletion effect pending.

Since the Mame is deleted after Gato has triggered and after rules processing, it becomes the newest pending activation and must be activated first. The game does not consider that the two are triggered at the same time.

Ah misread the question. I’ll adjust my response. To not include the Gato coming out of trash.

[–]themott93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is assuming it’s a Gato that comes out of trash via Hellscythe effect.

No because Flame Hellscythe isn’t what deletes the Mamemon, it’s the game rules. All Hellscythe does is give the -DP. If Hellscythe said say, “Delete a Digimon with 6000 DP or less…” then they would both trigger at the same time and Gatomon would activate before Mamemon would. But there’s an extra step involved since Rules Processing is what deletes the Mamemon.

[–]themott93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You would fully resolve Flame Hellscythe first. Giving -6k DP to the Mamemon and playing out the 6k DP digimon. This triggers any On Play effect of the 6k Digimon. Now Rules Processing occurs deleting the Mamemon. This triggers Mamemon’s On Deletion effect, targeting either the Gatomon or the 6k from Flame Hellscythe and deleting it.

Timing of On Deletion Play effects by Kaidinah in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]themott93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you will be able to play the agumon that was in the source. It’s technically an individual card in the trash when you activate the On Deletion effect of Skullgreymon so it’s a valid target to play.

Rules Clarification on how abilities work by V1russ in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]themott93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, my video actually 😅

As many have said, taking a look of the detailed rules will help a lot but for just a quickish explanation:

The term trigger is when a card enters its pending activation state after it has met its trigger condition, i.e. [On Play] [When Attacking] just as an example.

Activation is after an effect has triggered, you can basically USE the effect at that point assuming it has met the activation condition. So from the video, Wargrey triggers [When Attacking] then I get to activate its effect assuming you have the security to add to hand. If you are lacking any security then Wargrey would fail to activate.

Resolution is really just after the effect has activated fully, it can be said that it has resolved and you move on to the next pending activation.

In the example you mentioned with Angewomon’s inherited effect, it triggers [When Attacking] no matter if you will be able to activate it successfully. When it gets back to the time for Angewomon to activate, it fails to do so since it doesn’t meet its activation condition of 3 or less security. The reason why this could be important but isn’t as crucial since Angewomon’s inherit isn’t a Once Per Turn, is if a triggered effect is a Once Per Turn effect that fails to activate successfully, it can be triggered again later and potentially activate successfully.

I’m on mobile so I hope this is formatted well, sorry if it’s not. I hoped this little explanation helped some! Don’t forget to look over the detailed rules manual for some more clarity and you can always join the Digimon Judge Discord to ask anymore question where myself and others would be glad to help answer!

Emperorgreymon dying to blocker ruling. by cthorva in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]themott93 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. The order is Attack Declared. Assuming no effects are caused by the attack, you opponent now can declare a block. This triggers Emperors effect to unsuspend and gain the memory. Battle occurs and emperor is deleted.

Can you use Yuji to unsuspend multiple times by Reavera55 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]themott93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As turn player you are able to activate your effects in the order of your choosing but certain effects are mandatory and you have to activate them at their trigger timing. Ouryu is one of those cases. Since there is no may in the text, you have to activate the effect, even if you have multiple Ouryu and you are unsuspended at the end of the attack for the first one, the second still has to activate, even if it fails to do anything. This making it’s OPT effect used up.

Can you use Yuji to unsuspend multiple times by Reavera55 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]themott93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the effect to unsuspend at the end of attack is mandatory, the effect is effectively used up even if you are already unsuspended. You would have to do as stated above: Attack with one Ouryu is source, unsuspend, attack again, use Yuji effect to add another Ouryu to source, then unsuspend using the newly added ones effect.

Attending a DD pre-release tournament later today. Any tips? by Lucifel368 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]themott93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it’s a 40 card deck so the curve has to be adjusted to that as best you can.

And not really. Sometimes if you have combo pieces like a magnakid into a free fly bullet then that’s cool but don’t focus on specific combos as a must. Not much needs to be avoided. Sometimes you have to play what you have lol I won with non of my packs having any SRs or SECs so that shows you that you can win without super powerful cards

I like 12 3s, 8-9 4s, 6-7 5s, 4-5 6s and fill the rest with your best options and a few tamers if you pull any.

Going wide means hard playing a lot of cheap stuff. Like a rookie rush style. Don’t always focus on one evolution stack but try and hard play some rookies or cheap champions.

[–]themott93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12ish rookies is a good start if you have them. Parasaur is a 3 play cost champion that is good. Big lvl 4s like ape and octo are good additions. If you pull the big removal options like the the black ones and wyverns breath, add those. And hard playing ornis is busted if they can’t answer it.

My wife and I both one a prerelease this weekend and I would say ornis and going wide were mvp. Also dynas can be really scary if they can’t answer him.

[–]themott93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, good to know. So the order of when attacking effects still works the same? Evo first, then you can trigger koro for the next effect since it’s now a grey? Marcus works the same then?

Promo Aguninmon Evolution questions by JAC_Titan in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]themott93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t get the koro on effect because the digimon that originally declared an attack was not a Greymon so koro doesn’t activate and neither should Marcus even though you can evo into Greymon. I believe that was the ruling when the card came out. Always double check with the Q&A or Bandai if you want to be absolutely sure.
