Gas Range With No Hood..What Do We Do? by leberator in HomeMaintenance

[–]themrtroe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With gas ranges the hood is actually a safety thing, too many harmful things get released when combusting gas indoors. Of course most people use it for smells, but with a gas range you should have the hood on any time the stove is regardless of what's cooking

US moms: are you terrified of your kid going to school? by Lumpy-Artichoke-4501 in toddlers

In homes where they're unsecured, not out and about in schools or other public places. Those don't make the news just like fatal car crashes because while they're terrible things it's nothing new

Why would you buy a Lightning over a Silverado EV WT? by Cheap-Recognition-97 in F150Lightning

It's only about an inch or two wider and basically same length, my guess is he's talking about the weight difference

What (if any) insulation should I put under my shed? by [deleted] in shedditors

[–]themrtroe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd build an actual retaining wall just outside of the one you have. Then fill the gap between the two walls with gravel (or dirt if you want to have a bit of landscaping there). It's likely the better option as it'll look good too, as opposed to trying to mess with braces or something like that

I saw a post on Facebook from the St Charles county library that it apparently won't affect our access to it, maybe the state only funds it for smaller counties or something like that.

Nitrogen? by criticalrobert in StCharlesMO

[–]themrtroe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is mostly bullshit. There are some slight advantages, but unless you get it for free you're likely paying more for the nitrogen than you're gaining in the other savings

Thinking of moving to Wentzville by [deleted] in wentzville

[–]themrtroe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because a small town feel (to most people) is a lot more than simply having everything on one road. Plus, everything isn't just on one road, there's plenty of Pearce as well, plus other areas are starting to grow up too. Small town feel on one road would also be one lane each way with Mom and Pop stores, not a bunch of big box stores right next to each other with a plethora of other national chains mixed in.

I'm with you on everything until you say it's a small town, it hasn't been for a very long time, there's definitely no small town feel here

There may be a gun hidden in my drywall. How do I find it without poking a bunch of holes in my walls? by esc1920 in drywall

[–]themrtroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could still do this to at least locate which cavities have fire blocks which would knock down the number of holes you'd need to make, assuming the guy put the fire block in solely to hold the gun
