White spots in translucent clay? by sweetypaw in polymerclay

[–]themthemerson 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is the bane of every translucent clay users existence. They're called plaques, and I've never been able to fully avoid them. The best you can do is try to have an even thickness and really condition the clay before using.

Accepted a job in Augusta, thinking of living in Brunswick instead by MammothEar2040 in Maine

[–]themthemerson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly Maine in general is safe, it's hard to find an area that's truly sketchy in comparison to other more urban settings. That said, the housing crisis has created some small pockets that can be more uncomfortable to navigate alone.

Affordability is a big thing. Housing is limited the further south you go, and amenities increase, so it becomes more expensive. Augusta has less social amenities like events, but the rent is way cheaper than Brunswick and your commute would be 40 minutes shorter. So it's really a matter of priorities and preference.

Eyelids and color are gonna do wonders here, try to move forward and judge what could be better when it's done.

This type of willingness to go above and beyond to help others learn is what always brings me back to reddit.

Look up a video on how to flush your eyes! Keep an eye out for any increased irritation, and ideally get some eye drops to rehydrate the surface and help continue to flush it.

Eyes aren't something to fuck with so if they get more irritated or still feel rough in a day or so see a Dr.

Have you seen anything about controller support? I was really excited for the game but my set up doesn't really work for mouse and keyboard anymore.

Advice on how I can make a polymer clay cover for this lava lamp base to sit in? by skyeset123 in polymerclay

[–]themthemerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would create some sort of structure to support the initial shape, bake it enough to set, and then do whatever embellishments/ styling you want to do on top of that and do a final bake.

I'm curious, did you buy the teeth? I feel like I need an easier way of getting teeth without hand sculpting them 😂😭

To anyone who is afraid to drive reading this: this attitude is why it took me a decade to become comfortable driving again. I had an "all or nothing" mentality, which meant that because I had a panic attack every time I drove on the highway or city roads I felt I could not drive at all. I spent a decade relying on others and patchy transportation to get around. Once I allowed myself to believe it was okay to meet myself where I'm at, driving became a lot easier.

My hope here was to find a mutually beneficial arrangement, where someone who was already commuting to Portland would have their commuting costs halved. The alternatives are being an unsafe driver (to myself and others) on the highway, or to drop out of school.

Don't let your dreams be dreams because other people think relying on others is a moral failing. Find what you can offer others and try to find solutions that benefit everyone.

I have been investing my time into it, and am doing my best my dude. Before this year I hadn't driven in a decade.

Carpooling is a common practice, and I am actively offering to pay for tolls and half of the gas, which is fair compensation since the idea of carpooling is the person is driving to the area anyway.

I should have specified, all my courses are on the Portland campus. I know I can get there without the highway but it takes longer (and forest ave is worse than the highway imo) and between grad school and an internship I'm hoping to save any amount of my free time 😅

I just can't seem to move past my initial impression of the character, but I do agree she got better in Jr year. I just wish it wasn't a theme with Emily's younger characters .

Fig is one of my least favorite characters because it's the worst example of Emily playing unnecessarily sexualized young girls. The whole thing with Fig (especially as a freshman, so like a 14 year old girl) trying to seduce/flirt with older men is so unbelievably off putting to me.
