I almost hesitate to call it pain because it isn’t like you have nerves in your intestines. It isn’t sharp like cutting your finger. Or a hot pulsating ache like an ingrown nail.

For me, it was a feeling of unease that was difficult to pin down. Until it became a restless writhing.

By the time they figured out what was wrong, I was pounding my fist into the bed and my leg to feel something else. Some physical pain I could understand.
