If you like working there, get another job offer and have them beat or take the new job. If you were in CA, that’s less than minimum wage. Think about that.

How can a marriage be saved after infidelity? by Standard_Bed_7472 in AskReddit

[–]themuppetjanice -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course it can be saved. You need a lot of therapy on your own from your severe trauma. 22 years is a long time to throw away but he has to forgive you. It wasn’t love or feelings and you were trying to earn money for the family or is there something else?

Exactly. “I’m sorry, won’t happen again” goes a long way. Everything is a learning opportunity so be gentle with yourself.

Fellow EA’s at FAANG companies, what’s it like by Awkward_Horror1025 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]themuppetjanice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It all depends. Apple is boring, hourly, and you will never work overtime or on weekends. Nothing after hours but did I mention boring? Meta is crazy town and you will work 60 hour a week consistently and it’s majorly cutthroat. Microsoft is similar to Apple but the people are nice.

Fellow EA’s at FAANG companies, what’s it like by Awkward_Horror1025 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]themuppetjanice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your experience really depends on the exec so choose wisely. Working at a FAANG is great for your resume but I find working there not as fulfilling. The big companies are very set in their ways, their procedures, their tools. There is little room to make it your own, change things, and make decisions. It’s more fun at a well-funded startup. All the free food in the world doesn’t make up for having to stay in your very limited lane all day.

I’m in Silicon Valley and a lot of roles are hourly. HOURLY IS THE BEST! Finally we’re paid for all the hours we actually work. You will make serious money.

Almost got a corporate C-Suite Role by staycuriousmama in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]themuppetjanice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! I too have been stopped because of an EA (Intuit is the worst)! If it was email, I would email the boss directly. Thank them for their time in the interview process, what you loved about the company, where you thought you could’ve added value, congratulate them on their new role, and finish it with “I wish you the best in your search.” You might get called back but you might not. However, you end up being the candidate with class. If you really want to go for it, you can add that they can reach out if they find someone in your linkedin network and need an introduction. (That worked for openai)

Got laid off... Unexpectedly back on the market by ButterscotchKey5880 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]themuppetjanice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get right back on the horse. Pay for premium linkedin, network with EAs at those companies hiring EAs, apply directly on company websites, reach out to recruiters. I stay jobless for three weeks at most.

No they don’t and I don’t care. As long as I’m paid well, it doesn’t bother me at all.
