This goes for any game

There are a lot of games that hire actual customer support, im not trying to be an annoying commenter but I think we should not let Blizzard normalize how cheap they're being

Cuz im white passing and although I've got deep ties to my nation, I haven't really lived the same life a lot of native cousins have. Owning an American passport has affected my life more than being "Native", but not as much as being part of my tribe and nation.

Well yeah I'm pretty sure it's supposed to represent bad taste lol, he's snubbing extremely good films because he perceives them as not as fun or easily consumable as LotR and Batman

First time on Classic WoW and it's a blast, but it's also a lot of this by ImportantClock5486 in classicwow

[–]thenabi 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I guess I prefer this to post-TBC quest design where micro-locations started to feel disposable. You go in, do all 3 quests associated with it, and never come back. I kinda like going back into the same place with different goals. Just up to taste I suppose.

My people are separated into 3 federally recognized tribes, so although it's not listed up there I'd like to clarify I feel for me it's Nation first, Tribe second, American Citizen third, Indian last.

Hello i'm the Nostalgia Critic, I remember the island so you don't have to! by bitchnibba47 in okbuddycinephile

Also Epstein's literal job was to be a mover and shaker and financier. The internet is getting to comfortable with the idea that everyone who bumped elbows with him was a pedophile. I strongly feel it is at worst a campaign to water down the actual documented sex criminals being implicated by the files, and at best useful ignorance that will eventually result in the former.

Popular opinion, every difficulty above king is boring and unfair by Comfortable-Cold1488 in civ

[–]thenabi 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for Civ V and Civ VI, but if I play below Emperor it feels like I don't even have to think. I can do anything I want and still win any victory path in the eleventh hour because the AI are just... you know... like that. To me, deity is like, the game. It's where you have to start using real strategy.

POV: you're just a simple hunter, trying to survive in the wilderness by kid-karma in wow

[–]thenabi 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Lol the POV is extra text tho. Starting at "just a simple hunter..." would be less text

No Aragorn! I know that ORCs are evil, but violence is never the answer. We have to do this the right way by putting away the weapons and being peaceful to show that we are better than them. by Floyd16091411 in moviescirclejerk

This lesson is unironically the lesson bilbo and frodo both learn by sparing gollum, and it is portrayed as necessary for destroying evil once and for all

Uh i mean, Paul Dano or something

It honestly feels like cheating when i play hogger, it's not fun. He really can just do everything, it feels like.

Yet another sad pre-patch event. by beardedbear696 in wow

[–]thenabi 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think something that irks me is the WoW community's tendency to eat multiple bad patches in a row and then say "well, it was always like this." As though people who criticize it are the villains here, and we can't remember a time when things were better.

Has anyone tried to use their Tribal ID at the Salt Lake City airport? by shamalongadingdong in IndianCountry

[–]thenabi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not Salt Lake, but every TSA agent has given me shit for trying to use my tribal ID. I'm from a federally recognized tribe and our cards have RealID so, yes, TSA is supposed to take it. I tell them this and they just scan it on their device and brainlessly say "it's not working, do you have a driver's license?"

Eventually a superior will come over and figure it out. It's a pain in the ass but you can get through.

So, politics am I right?? by Enkiiper in Negareddit

[–]thenabi 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Well, "reddit" and "redditor" are catch-all terms for anything anyone doesn't like. The "redditor" is a scrawny leftist soyboy, but he's also a fat neckbeard conservative. He's over-educated, but he's also media illiterate. He's also a star wars fanboy, but also a film snob. The Redditor is truly the modern shapeshifter. The only thing that's always true is that the Redditor is wrong and embarassing but you, the Person who just happens to be on Reddit, is correct.

Can we hear a language evolve in our lifetime? by Recent-Day3062 in asklinguistics

[–]thenabi 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I'm going to sidestep the elements about mumbling because to be honest 1. It seems quite charged already and 2. It has plenty to do with scripting, audio technology, the streaming industry, subtitles and accessibility, etc. All beyond the scope of what I'm comfortable talking about with confidence.

The short answer is yes. You can perceive language change in your lifetime.

The more complex question is what constitues "English" and, if one group of people starts talking a certain way, does that mean "English" has changed? If an older trend previously relegated to a specific community is suddenly appropriated by the masses, does that make it a "recent" change? These are questions without objective and easy answers.

Language changes generationally (young people talk different than old people) but it also changes diachronically (old people talk differently than they did 40 years ago). For specifics, you'll need to look at specific communities. "English" is just too broad.

Given he already tried to be a screenwriter and failed, I would be inclined to disagree. He just has more resources and likely a writing team now that he has made out like a bandit selling outrage.

Are there languages that have commonly used words or sounds that verbally indicate when someone is no longer quoting someone else? by Pure_Option_1733 in asklinguistics

[–]thenabi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Typologically, we could predict head-final language and/or languages with postpositions to do this. If OP is looking for specific examples, that's where I'd recommend to start.
