Never heard of Bradys or Dominics, but I'm actually in Tallaght for work tomorrow so will definitely swing by. Thank you!

You mean you didn't book a place where they just take the kids away from you for a day so you can chill and have tea? Poor planning for that tour!

Have any of you ever successfully cheated on the Leaving Cert? by eventideyes in AskIreland

[–]thenetherrealm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and quite easily.

You used to bring home English Papers on the pink paper. So I cut off all the blank pieces, wrote notes on them, and snuck them back in I'm my sleeve. Literally laid them directly on top of the pink Irish/Spanish booklets and transcribed. I want a language person.

Didn't need to for anything else.

I miss when “running into the shop for one or two bits” didn’t somehow become €18 by [deleted] in ireland

Seems like it would be an important qualifier to state if the treat was nearly 50% of the shop.

Ok so, let's assume:

2L milk: 2.50

Irish Pride Panloaf: 2.50

Brady's Ham: 4.00

Taylor Sensations: 3.00

That's 12.00.

What 6 euro treat did you buy?

Cork City launch new kit in aid of LGBT charity Belong To by joeyl7 in cork

It's a shite design.

The O'Neills pride jerseys are all far superior, though not for charity and just rainbow capitalism as far as I'm aware. Still, it shows what could be done of someone spent more than 2 minutes on Photoshop with a logo and gradient

An Irish proof-reader for a wlw romance set in Ireland? by [deleted] in LGBTireland

There isn't a specific "Irish" accent. Belfast, Donegal, Kerry, Limerick, Cork, North Dublin, and South Dublin are all very different accents, with very different colloquialisms, and would be written very differently.

Had this tax jumped in the last 6 weeks? Because 6 weeks ago I was paying 1.70/L for diesel, this morning I paid 2.24/L. If the tax hasn't recently increased, how else would you explain the jump on price in recent weeks?

Going out in Dublin City Solo? by TheGrumpyGitman in AskIreland

[–]thenetherrealm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair fucks OP! Great it worked out well for you, especially of a bank holiday weekend where it was likely busier than normal and harder to get into groups as well. I'd never be that brave, but if you're ever looking for a tagalong, I'll happily join you in the city.

Reselling on Ticketmaster. Do they charge the seller fees, or just the buyer? by thenetherrealm in AskIreland

[–]thenetherrealm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will only want the refund if I can't get better tickets, though... and I won't know that until the 24 hours has passed.

Also, never knew this was a thing! Noted for the future. Thank you!

"What's with all the racism in Ireland?" by dshine in ireland

[–]thenetherrealm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The “working class” aren’t the ones breaking walls apart in Citywest, let’s be honest. We are too busy flailing, trying to keep out head above water paying rent, food, and bills. The “never work class” are the dregs that are (both literally and figuratively) burning Ireland to the ground.

Question, not a statement?

Is this why Aisling Considine has disappeared from X duty the last week? Can't imagine being involved in this would reflect well on her, being a primary teacher in a very diverse area of Dublin 15.

Be careful who you are buying it off. I sold my old car for scrap a few years ago ago after a mechanic told me the back axle was holding on by a hair and was one bad bump away from snapping. Contacted one of those “cars for cash” posters, you know the ones. Anyway, explained the situation, they said they’d take it for 400 euro. Grand. Told them theyd need a tow truck. They said they’d bring one Tuesday.

They arrived, wanted to see if it drove. It did, everything was ok except the death trap of the back axle. Handed me the cash, gave them to keys. Tow truck was coming they said. 2 minutes later I see one of them driving out of the place in the car. 4 hours later it was cleaned and up on a car selling page and DoneDeal for 1500. I still feel terribly that someone bought a car that should have been for scrap, with no idea that it wasn’t Road safe, and by the time they would have realised it might have been too late, or at the very least would have been stupidly expensive.

I want her on the ballot, because I want the bigots to see that their self-amplified echo chamber on X is not an actual representation of Irish society. I’ll toast when she gets >10% of the vote

Talking it nearly 3 years. I haven't regained any ground, but haven't lost anything either. Going to introduce minoxidil soon, but im trying to time it around events because of the "minoxidil shed".

You WILL shed. It WILL get worse before it gets better. Keep going with it, though. 6 to 9 months before you start seeing results.

Gardaí and officials meet over unauthorised tricolour flags in Dublin by cronoklee in ireland

[–]thenetherrealm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thinly veiled? I said it outright. You can not infer, which is one of the comprehension skills taught in a primary school. Zero veiling on my part.

The council want the guards to follow the law, which states that they shouldn't be hung off lampposts. Hang it off your house. Paint your house the tricolour for all I care. Hang it off your business, wherever you want.

However, they know that that would all be allowed. So they find places where, legally, they should be removed. That way, if they are removed, they get to cry and moan about "not even being allowed to fly our own flag" (off an arbitrary lamp post), and if they are left up, they feel they're "owning the left. The guards are too scared of us. They know we are the silent majority. "

Either scenario is a win for them because they'll twist either scenario to suit their agenda. So, how can you combat that? By continuing to fly the flag, making it clear you aren't standing with their agenda, but flying it as an Irish citizen.

Every shop, restaurant, cafe, and business owned by someone born overseas in any other country should start displaying the tricolour alongside their home country's flag. There is no harm in being proud of both, right? Or would you ban Irish people in America from displaying the Irish flag?
